avrie Posted December 2, 2014 Share Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) The title of thane feels kind of empty when you realize there's almost no one else to compare yourself with. There's only two other thanes in the game. Seriously, Skyrim? And there is a lot of places that should have a thane and do not. Stalleo owns a goddamn ancestral castle in the Rift, and isn't a thane of Riften. Rorik founded a village and wasn't made a thane of Whiterun to rule it in the name of the Jarl. Most holds do not have thanes at all! What I propose is to make a mod that makes certain NPCs thanes, and adds some new NPCs when there isn't anyone to be thaned. Officials of jarls, rulers of small villages, just distinguished individuals - there should be a lot of thanes. Also, this idea kinda combines well with my old desire to see a Nordic tower or two in repaired, inhabited, civilized and working order. Perhaps one or more of the new thanes will live in a maintained Nordic tower? Maybe add one for the player as the property that goes with the thaneship of Winterhold?
