Metro 2077

Hello members of the nexus community. I have been playing fallout 3 for almost two years. I started playing on the PC and modding it after getting 100+ hours of FO3 on the xbox 360. I have loved post apocylaptic fiction since I was a child. When I was around 10 I watched Stephen Kings The Stand and read the book when I was 16. I recently acquired the book Metro 2033 after it came out in English at a decent price. Needless to say I tried the game on the xbox 360 and was a little disappointed. I though controls were odd, it was too easy to switch between MG rounds and standard rounds and combat a little odd sometimes. Stealth was a pain in the ass and companions died too easily. But what won me over was the amount of details, the liveliness in the universe. So as a fallout 3 freak I thought what if we could apply this same logic to the metro?

I have zero mod creating experience, dont know how to work the geck, and am software as well as hardware impaired compared to many of the tech savy individuals on the nexus sites. But I have a proposal and/or a desire to know if a mod like this is in the works.

A living metro. While it would be very difficult to rework the entire fallout 3 metro system, I had the idea of what if we could have a separate metro station. Perhaps one that lead to Annapolis, Maryland; Dover,Delaware; or even Trenton, New Jersey.

Instead of being an entire city what if we had only the metro with a few above ground sections that were highly radiated and required a radiation resistant suit, rad x, and rad away.

I have a sort of idea like this. The lone wanderer finds a note about how a shipment of weapons was being delivered from (insert city here) to the capital wasteland. And it would be coming through a metro at these coordinates. The note would/should be in a major settlement such as Rivet City or Megaton in the local bar.

After the lone wanderer finds the note he departs to the location and finds the metro station. Upon entering said station he finds a cart(similar to the one that took you to the pit) with several carts behind it in tow with weapons and ammo. He also sees a man in an outfit not seen before and a large caliber pistol in his hand by the name of Alan. When you ask what the hell happened he responds

Alan: "This cheap male without a father tried to shoot me and take my shipment for free. Didnt even have the caps to cover the costs. What the hell am I going to do now."

option a:

Player: intelligence(you have a product, you can just distribute it throughout the wastes. I can assist in the sales of this product but I would desire something in return).

Alan: Hey you are pretty smart kid. Tell ya what: if you sell 10 assault rifles, 20 hand grenades, 10 mines, 20 10mm pistols, 5 rocket launchers, 2 miniguns, 500 rounds of 5.56, 200 rounds of 10mm, 1000 5mm rounds, and 30 rockets and bring me back the profits you made I will give you a cut of the profits. Deal?"

I would have made a good deal of money off this

option b:

player: gun nut(hey this is some pretty good stuff. I know a few people who could use these sort of materials. I could use some myself)

Alan: Yeah only the best products. Hey if you can sell me some of this stuff I might be able to cut you in on some of the product. Sound good?"

[just some ideas I have now but I want to get the main point across lol]

so these items deal 10% more damage and 10% mark up in costs. All weapons are at about 50% condition or so. I have not worked out the math, but the general idea is that this was worth a lot of money. Easy to pay the costs back even for those with a low barter skill, but the player wont get a lot of cash. However: alan offers an proposition

sorry, I cant pay you a lot. how about you come back with me to (insert city name here). We could use a salesman like you. I will have you meet a few associates of mine.

while the quest is not important the big deal I would like to see happen or possibly work on is a city underground.

now many argue "how do we fast travel". You can talk to an engineer at one of the many city stations and ask the engineer what the cost of building a train or electric cart between major destinations might be. The more popular the destination the more caps it costs, however you can maybe ask the engineer after rising up the ranks of the metro to put a tax on it(gain evil karma) but you can get your money back over a long enough period of time.

the distance between settlements will be LONG and on purpose. As in metro 2033 I have a few factions

the peoples liberation army: an entirely communist mostly asian settlement with chinese weapons and clothing. As well as banners of the hammer and sickle.

Ghouls: at a remote part of the metro a station was near a nuclear facility. Needless to say nuclear waste poured into the station having them all be ghouls and the water nearly impossible to drink for a non ghoul.

The Remnant Armed Forces of America(RAFA) is a group with many of her founders being members of the military as its proximity to an Army Base. Heavily armed, patriotic, and paranoid this group is wary of outsiders as well as communists. Its people live happily in a laissez faire society that is lead by a council.

"standard" settlements: Many smaller settlements dot the paths inbetween major ones and typically contain less than 20 people.

so yeah this is some of the ideas I have. I hope any experienced modders have any input on its plausibility, as well as tips to start modding, or having a reduced version of this created. I might draw a map later of what I had in mind for design of said metro

thank you all for reading!

This, albeit a HUGE undertaking, would be an incredible mod. I never played Metro 2033, by my friend did, so I know what you mean regarding the liveliness. It's entirely doable, too, given the right resources. Maybe a few custom models, someone who knew how to mess with guns like that, builder, and a lot of voice actors... I could see this mod working immensely well, in fact. I don't know enough regarding things like.. XMarker Headings (never work, no matter what I do) and custom worldspaces to do much, but I adore building things, and I know for a fact the cart idea would be doable, but it's a bit beyond my skills to make the locations unavalable until a connection is "built"

I wish there was an "endorse idea" button.

It seems bad that I've already begun construction of the cart/intro guy and the metro thereafter. I always save quests for last, because they're confusing. Still don't know how to make the quest marker appear on the map (the one pointing to the quest objective location)
