2 Problems: Aggro and Booming Sounds

Hello!

 

Okay, so I have 2 problems, and they aren't very nice problems...

 

Most enemies, including Mythic Dawn, Raiders, Marauders, Bandits, Pirates and generally everything else won't usually attack me unless I either try to talk to them or attack them first. Not only that, but usually none of my CM partners will attack enemies (even if they are attacking me or my partners) unless they are following me (sometimes even then they won't attack).

 

Another problem: A loud booming sound keeps repeating over and over. I heard that its the sound that happens when a script is used. I think its used on a quest stage updating so that would make sense. I just have no way of getting rid of it. I did download a mod that was supposed to but it didn't work. Seriously, its driving me insane - I'm starting to hear it even when I'm not playing Oblivion!

Which mod did you download that gets rid of the sound?

 

Because what you could do is unpack the Sounds.bsa file and search for the sound. (Sorry I would find it for you and tell you what it is, but I'm on a different computer right now...)

 

Then rename a silent .wav file to the name of this sound file and put it in the same folder structure on your hard drive that was used in the .bsa to store the sound. The game will see that and use it in lieu of what's in the .bsa file. This is true of all "replacers". (That's right, news flash, they don't actually replace anything. :teehee: )

 

Here's a mod that makes use of a silent .wav file already which I highly recommend for its intended use and any other time you want to get rid of sounds (like the crickets in the snowy mountains at night :rolleyes: )

As for the issue of people not attacking you unless you talk to them, is that all the time, or just randomly? Do they draw their weapons and then run up in your face and never attack?

 

I usually just restart if I have to and the problem is fixed. Post your load order.

I used Oblivion Script Sound Disabled ( http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?id=3531&view=OblivionMods.Detail ) but that didn't work.

I had a look in the Sounds BSA and I'm 99% sure the ingame repeating sound is ui_message.wav . But I copied a silent version and put in in exactly the same folder structure and ran an archive invalidation but it didn't fix it :/

 

The attacking problem seems to be all of the time, but only with certain creatures. Yesterday, a Lesser Hill Giant started attacking some CM Partners that I hadn't joined with yet, but they wouldn't fight back. And also, some bandits just stood looking at me until I walked up to them and tried to talk, at which point they attacked. My CM Partners will fight on some occasions but a lot of the time, even if they are part of my party and following me, they won't.

Well, I never run archive invalidation, so maybe that "corrected" it back to playing all the time. I'm not entirely sure what archive invalidation is, actually. I've never really understood it, and as far as I know, I've never needed it.
