Sigurd44
It's a while ago that I had some overview over that topic. I was used to capture my videos by Fraps. Dxtory is another recording tool that comes to my mind. I want to capture high quality Skyrim videos while using a pretty heavy Skyrim mod and ENB setup (Serenity ENB) while playing in 2560 x 1440 resolution (Titan SLI system) and I want to have as less effect and quality loss as possible (as far as I know video recording does not always play nice in combination with ENB effects). Data storage is no issue, my NAS has plenty of that. In future I want to do the same maybe even in UHD (after spending a ton of € for a 4k display and an upcoming GTX 900er series Titan SLI system). Any idea about a fitting software recording tool for such tasks? It has not be freeware only, might even be some sort of semiprofessional or even professional stuff which might cost some money. dayglo98
What about the encoder that comes with Geforce Experience ? Shadowplay or something ? It's supposed to be pretty good
Sigurd44
Hmm you are right, Geforce Nvidia experience has indeed a recording tool...I just read about that on the Nvidia page. Somehow I missed that. I remember it as an annoying tool that wanted always to reset my Nvidia driver setup (you usually need to have everything set to off while running an ENB -> AA, AF, AO etc., I just use the recommended SLI settings) and in the past it even had some issues while running an ENB, therefore I became used to do a custom installation of the Nvidia display driver without the experience part. I will give that a try, thx.

Try OBS Open Broadcast Software... Stream to file or YouTube or Twitch.tv... Free and works well.I can help you tweak it in if you need it... https://obsproject.com/
Amyr
Even though that it's not that high quality, ShadowPlay has the lowest performance impact. Which will basically allow you to be more greedy with your mod setup.
Sigurd44
Thx guys. I will stay with Shadowplay. The former issues with ENB and Nvidia Experience seems to be solved. You just need to take care that you switch off all overlay functions.
N7R
I use Elgato HD capture card. My gfx card allows up to 3 monitor outputs so the 3rd output is the hdmi to my elgato. I then mirror my main display in 1080p to the elgato (the elgato acts as a 3rd display essentially) and can literally record with zero processing power being lost toward recording while playing skyrim or any other pc game. The elgato is an external device so it does not require the use of my pc to process any capturing while I play my games.

It's not too bad a quality, I guess, but not the best for sure. On 12/7/2014 at 3:12 AM, N7R said: I use Elgato HD capture card. I might have to look into getting one of these. It would be better quality than ShadowPlay, right?
