MrLXIV
I always thought the ebony blade was a good weapon for me, fast with a decent amount of damage behind it
thursti
I liked that, but i like silver more, so much that i console killed a guard just to steal his silver longsword :)
Wrath_Of_Deadguy
I'm partial to the lightweight Black Bow. It doesn't stack up in damage against the high end gear, but it has the lowest weight of 8, leaving more inventory space (a biggie when you intentionally ignore your strength stat for several levels, like I do) for other things. When paired with a quality arrow...say, elven or glass, and using sneak attacks, most enemies still die after the first hit. I just can't see the point in lugging around a bow that has a weight of 16, 18, even 22, when I could carry my trusty Black Bow instead and make up the weight by carrying more arrows (since every 10 inventory slots can carry up to 100 arrows, depending on type) or just having more inventory space available for looting. I like daggers and shortswords over longswords for similar reasons- they weigh less, and with high speed and agility the range advantage of a longsword is pretty much negated by quick attack-retreat tactics (read that: don't let the enemy get a return hit). Again, a good sneak attack still puts most enemies out of their misery, and even if it doesn't a quick second strike can land before the enemy can actually detect you (it usually doesn't happen immediately after the first hit) and finish him/her/it off. Then again, I tend to pick on only one or two enemies at a time, because my computer just can't handle more than that. Heavy-duty weapons would be an advantage in bigger fights, but I can't afford to be caught in a bigger fight (literally- if too many combatants appear at once, the game slows down to near-lockup and death is the usual result). Lightweight weapons that refire quickly are ideal for the way I play.
