mod problems

ok i just installed oblivion on my computer(i have a vista laptop). i've been playing for awhile on my dads computer with mods and decided to start using my computer so i could play at work. I'm pretty sure i put all the mods in the right places because they show up on the date file thing when you start up the game. But when I start the game and get past making my person I end up in the prison and can't get out. that really annoying guy in the cell across from you doesn't talk to me and the king never comes so i'm just stuck there sitting in a cell with nothing to do. I was wondering if i installed something wrong or in it has to do with my computer or what. also, this one isn't quite so important, some of the races that you can pick from don't have eyes(mostly the ones that come with the game).

This is the unofficial patch which fixes a number of bugs in the regular game. It also fixes the fact that the guy across from you won't speak to you. If you use a custom race, the game doesn't know which dialogue to give him. Now it gives him a generic "What are you supposed to be?" dialogue.

As for your other problems, get OBMM and use that instead of the Launcher. Mods have to load in a particular order because of how they affect the game. The Data Files Launcher just loads them alphabetically. Half your problems are probably due to the mods being loaded in the wrong order.

As to what order is correct, use BOSS.

OBMM http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097

BOSS http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516

Also, you may want to reinstall the game because putting it in the standard Program Files location is asking for security problems because Vista thinks mods are attacking the program. Put it in C:\Games or something.

Here's an article that talks about how to do this correctly:

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff you have to do exactly right to get this game working. :teehee:
