llloyd
I went out of my way to become a vampire right off from nearly day one, raided Redwater Den (not easy, even at level 2 still had to contend with Master Vampires. ). After I noticed the Dawnguard recruiter is a bit stupid, he's trying to recruit a vampire into a vampire hunting order. :D So I was thinking that perhaps, and I will let the mod author change as he or she desires, that the recruiter instead recognizes you as a vampire, says something that starts the Dawnguard quest that directs you to look for more info or to Castle Volkher, and attacks you. After you kill the vampire hunter you go looking for more information on this Lord Harkon and find your way to Castle Volkher. There with some persuasion (maybe do a job or two for the gate keeper to prove loyalty) you get in to the Castle and talk to Harkon. More small jobs then raiding the Vigilantes of Stendarr where you find information they are interested in Dimhallow Crypt. You go to Dimhallow Crypt and from there it'll tie back into the normal Dawnguard quest line but on the Vampire side being given the Vampire Lord form as a reward for finding his daughter and his Elder Scroll. :D

OpenWorldAddict
I have even better idea. Maybe you can choose to just ignore him and later on overhear a discussion about the attack on the Hall of Vigilants. That would update your journal with a objective to investigate that hall. When you get there you would see the left overs of the battle that took place there, including bodies of several vigilants and vampires alike. On one of the vampires bodies you find a journal of some such document detailing their search for a lost vampire that has been trapped for ages in a dungeon called Dimhollow crypt somewhere in these mountains. Reading that would update your journal with an objective to investigate Dimhollow crypt, sending you on the same path you would have taken after joining the Dawngaurd without actually having to join them at all. That was sort of the other idea, when the recruiter attacks you he'd say something like "This is revenge on what you did to my Vigilant brothers! Die vampire! You don't belong in this world!" or something and that would add a quest to your quest book to investigate the Vigilant's hall, and there you would find vampire bodies and Vigilant bodies, in that debris would be the Dimhollow Crypt report written by Vigilant Adalvald which would lead you to Dimhollow Crypt, then from there it would proceed as normal. It's crazy the recruiter, a trained vampire hunter with many years experience, doesn't recognize you as a vampire. Be like a deer hunter walking past the very deer he's hunting. OpenWorldAddict
but I was thinking more along the lines for those who are not vampires yet, you know just want to jump being normal directly to being a vampire lord without having to become a vampire before hand. (for exmaple me, I don't like playing as the base vampires is skyrim, but I think playing as a vampire lord might be cool to play once. However as of now the only way to become on is to join the Dawnguard which in my mind is a little backwards.) Also, my idea might be easier to implement, requiring less scripting (although I have no idea how modding works).

I get a little irritated that some NPCs who should know your a vampire don't, like Babette or most of the Brotherhood sanctuary who has been around and tolerate vampires. Personally I think it's more fun to sneak up behind your victim and grab / drain them. :D Pretend my character does like in some of the novels, dribble a drop of blood on the wounds to heal them so the populace will be terrorized by a rash of dead bodies with no apparent reason for dying. :D
