ironsightsffs
I don't think I'll ever be able to play through the beginning of this game without killing that SOB. Is there anything interesting in regards to Amata's callback later on or otherwise if I spare him?
Johssy
Naw, nothing major. He's gonna do exactly the same as the new Overseer would've done. Basically. I think though that the chance of persuading him that the Vault isn't gonna survive no matter what he does is higher if its Amatas dad. Wait, can you even persuade the new overseer? Hm... KDStudios
Yes you can persuade the new overseer to open the vault =) And nope nothing changes in the story at all if you kill the overseer.Except Amata will not be happy and give you different speech but all in all you will have to do the same thing... Leave the vault =P EDIT: BOTH TIMES =P
Y2Jericho
i just shot him again and again until he is almost dead than i leave the vault (in the beginning of the game) and then after that radio you can even shoot him more and bring him down ( xD i always like blow his face and cut his limbs)
KDStudios
Personally... I love killing him, then using console Resurrect 1 on him just to see his blown up face after I shoot him with a Shotgun. Glitches ftw.
LenGrowlTiger
Nothing really happens if you dont kill him. I tried a number of times talking to him but that never helped. So this one time I just snaked myself by and into his office and hacked the terminal and got the underground door open, and Amata still met me at the door when I were to get out, thanking me for not killing her dad... wierd. tegthelord
if you don't kill the Overseer, then when you later do the "trouble on the homefront" quest (return to vault 101 - caution, spoilers ahead!) the overseer will still be in charge of Vault 101. There are two possible ways this will run: 1) if you kill the overseer on your way out, then when you return to vault 101 there will be general chaos, with the "kids" rebelling against the adults to open the vault.2) same as 1, but the Overseer will still be in charge, and so you have the opportunity of talking to him and convincing him to open the vault or step down... or not (and you still blame him for Jonas, so you can get medieval on him if you want) Either way the rest of the quest will run more-or-less the same - you have to help the rebels. Hope that didn't spoil it too much! (oh, and if you do the Trouble on the homefront quest later, you will see Vault 101ers walking around the wasteland. I saw Butch in the Muddy Rudder in Rivet City, and some others roaming around up near Little Lamplight)
KDStudios
Actually tegthelordThere is an Overseer all the time.If you kill him and return later another Overseer is in charge and is doing the same stuff that Amata's dad would have done so that the quest remains unchanged. tegthelord
really? the first time I played (and killed the overseer on the way out) then there was no overseer in charge when I went back. The second time (when I escaped without killing him) he was in charge. But yeah, same quest, same outcome, but there was no overseer there. I'll have to play again now (like I need an excuse) lol
KDStudios
Yeah I quote from the Fallout wikia:"If you killed the original Overseer while escaping from Vault 101, Allen Mack will be the new Overseer" http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Trouble_on_the_Homefront =]
