sonusk
Hello I am a returning xcom player and I am looking forward to playing long war. Unfortunately I don't know how to install it. Any directions I find are confusing and I can't find a video that helps. Can anyone please give me a link to a video that shows how or make one? I would greatly appreciate it. dubiousintent
There is a LW installer for Macs, though some people are encountering problems with it at the moment. It's being worked on. Check out this thread. Manual install instructions are here. -Dubious-
sonusk
I got confused so I went and found the instructions in the file. It says use install-LW-OSX.sh but I don't know what to do at that point. It says the instructions are similar to the linux so I checked there and it said run the install script. How do I do that? Please reply soon. Thank you. Edited December 8, 2014 by sonusk
dubiousintent
Files with the ".sh" extension are "shell" files, usually for the "bash shell". (There are other shells.) Also called "scripts". Similar to DOS/Windows ".bat" or ".cmd" files. All you should need to do is double click on it (or however you are configured to normally launch a program) and it will get launched like any other executable. Not to be condescending, but that information should be in your owners manual. Regardless, this article covers the basics of a bash shell script. Having a basic understanding of scripts in general can be very useful for combining several steps into a single mouse click. They are not hard to put together and everyone (not just programmers) can learn to do so. Every OS I know of has some form of similar shell scripting, because it is such a useful tool. -Dubious-
