scottym23
So hardcore mode definitely was an improvement on realism in terms of having to eat, stay hydrated, and get sleep, (along with extra damage dealt/taken) but it doesn't quite satisfy my realistic playthrough desires. So i'm requesting a hyper hardcore mode mod that would make the game much more realistic, harsh, and downright difficult. Here's a rundown on the aspects I've currently thought out: 1. Restricted Inventory - A backpack would be a must, and even then the carry weight would be limited (50 pounds max). This wouldn't include armor worn, but that would be the only exception. See a cool missile launcher that an enemy dropped? Probably have to hide it in a container, go back to your main hideout and stash away items to lessen your carry weight, then travel back to not be over encumbered while retrieving the launcher. See a cool armor set an enemy dropped? Either swap it out with your currently worn armor, or take it back to your hideout one piece at a time. 2. No Fast Travel - This is an obvious one in my mind and essential. You could see this is artificial runtime, but it also adds another layer of planning and strategy to figure out what you need and if you have enough supplies to last a trip to a location and back. Not to mention random encounters would be more prevalent, spicing up the game. 3. Ammo/Loot Extremely Rare - Unless it's a location that would actually carry weapons/ammo such as an armory, it should be very rare to find anything of use in a storage container. The way to counter balance this so it'd still be worth it to explore every nuck and cranny is to put great armors and weapons in a couple of completely random containers as to keep the players searching and curious. 4. Limit Bandit's Armor/Weapon Quality - Unless an NPC is part of a faction or has a reason to be running around with expensive equipment, the everyday run of the mill bandit should primarily be using nail boards and other weak weapons. I feel like i'm cheating the system when after clearing out a couple groups of bandits I already have enough weapons/armor that I need to wait forever for the vendors to restock their caps for me to sell all my loot, essentially being set in cash. Making it more challenging to get good gear would enhance the enjoyment and thrill of actually obtaining it. 5. Extreme Damage - This is one of the most key parts to the mod that would also be the most controversial in my opinion. Have the damage be realistic in the sense that if I shoot someone's arm, then their arm is crippled. If I shoot their head (and they are a humanoid creature) it's a one hit kill. If I hit someone's leg, then their leg is crippled. The same also goes for the courier and his damage. I'm aware this would be rather difficult to balance because of the ambushes and large group battles, but it would simply put a lot more emphasis on the sneak system and add to it's usefulness. If you think about it, having the first shot in any situation usually decides the battle, so this would just emphasize that more. If these five aspects were added to the hardcore mode already in place, that would make for an extremely fun and refreshing play through of Fallout New Vegas. Thanks for reading! senterpat
You can use Project Nevadas optional settings to achieve most of these. 1. Set the encumberance setting to your desired level. Then find a hardcore backpack mod. 2. Project Nevada Extra Options lets you disable fast travel. DB encounters add random encounters. 3. Project Nevada lets you control loot rarity, set it the % you want. The extra options has a option that removes loot from the game world as well. 4. PN doesn't have much in the way of this, but the extra options lets you make the trading curve higher. 5. Scale damage taken with PN, option for helmet requirement to reduce damage to the head.
