kiba995
Hello fellow Skyrim players. I've been playing Skyrim since the day it was released and I can honestly say its my favorite game of all times. In all this time there had been a lot of great mods for it which kept my addiction and I was thinking... with all the graphic mods, the combat AI mods and the oculus rift compatibility mod, wouldn't be nice to also have a combat mod that involves some linear motion controller like the hydra controller? Like really controlling your character's hands? And since we're talking about big things, why not also a realistic collision AI? meaning (as an example) that when a bandit swings his sword at me and I position my hand to block it, that attack will be blocked and not just pass trough my sword as if it wasn't even there in the first place. Yes yes yes.. I know it sounds very hard or even impossible to create, it even sounds stupid, but as a fan (with very little modding knowledge) I'm wondering what are chances for this mod to be created, having the technology that is now available for public use. P.S.: Its a random question out of curiosity, no rude replies needed. :) Edited December 9, 2014 by kiba995
Jayw21
without completely recreating the games engine, yeah that's impossible. The kind of technology used for motion detection is light-years ahead of skyrim. Would be cool you bet your ass it would be, just like the voice to shout mod. Yeah it was cool, did it work... kinda. I mean lets face it the modders are limited to using 2010-2012 software to edit core features in the game. A lot of these are really clever WORK AROUND, no one reinvented the wheel they just did something fancy at the cost of scripting power to do something really cool. And shoved it betha's face they were better then there salary employees. What your talking about is state of the art development programs that skyrim has no way of understanding. If I made a mod like that and tried to stick it into skyrim I would be speaking to it in Manderun and well skyrim in comparison to other games that use motion detection, can only say "dada" and fuss when it doesn't get it's way causing a CTD. There just a language barrier no amount of modding or clever use of scripting can overcome.
