C1pher
I'm currently running QTP3 and it runs smoothly for me, except in cities (due to Better Cities). I've also tried to use Unique Landscapes, but that caused my fps to drop when outside of cities so I uninstalled it. If I switch over to QTP3 Redimized, what kind of performance gain can I expect to receive (inside and outside of cities)? I'm asking because I want to improve my fps inside cities and hopefully reinstall Unique Landscapes. Edit:I just realized I posted this in the wrong section. If a mod reads this, could you please move it to General Mod Talk?
Eiries
While using the Reduced version will get you better frame rate at a small cost of quality, Better Cities will still undoubtedly drag your FPS to the ground. If you're actually using the normal, undiluted version of QTP... you're one of the few that do. That's thing's a killer. I use QTP3R myself. It's probably have a more noticeable boost outdoors, where frame rates wont be completely horrible by default. :teehee: In short, don't expect huge miracles when dealing with Better Cities but... QTP3R is a great investment to make your game pretty without making your GPU ignite.
ArmeniusLOD
Better Cities is too much of a framerate killer for me to run. Plus, I can't enter Bravil from the docks with Blood&Mud installed. My system is not a slouch by any stretch of the imagination either (Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700, GeForce 8800 GTX OC2s in SLI, 4GB of RAM, Vista x64). If you have 1GB or more of dedicated VRAM then I would stick with QTP3. I would, however, grab Optimized Distant Land MAX to keep stuttering down. Less than 1GB and you should grab Redimized (don't forget the patch and the fixed/optimized meshes). Still sometimes graphics memory usage will top 800MB when outside, and when it does framerate drops into the teens. I'm using QTP3R, BTQ 4096x4096 landscape LODs, Qarl's Better Tiling Textures, and Qarl's 4096x4096 Uncompressed Normal Maps.
C1pher
Thanks for the suggestions. I replaced QTP3 with QTP3R and didn't notice any FPS increase so I switched back. Weirdly enough, I was able to install the Unique Landscapes Compilation without too much of a performance hit outside. I guess everything "went better than expected". Deleted1217574User
I strongly suggest the Redimized. The quality difference is negligible, but the framerate increase is impressive. Still, as was said, it can be a bit much to handle. Personally, I'd recommend UL and maybe Better Cities without QTP, simply because the textures aren't terrible to begin with, in my opinion, whereas those mods make everything beautiful. You just sorta gotta decide where you wanna allot your FPS.
Xtudo
As Raithfyre I recommend Redimized, as they were optimized by hand by great modders. After that install Detailed Terrain, here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15245 A BIG improvement! Regards! Xtudo
