michael2mandy
Anyone know any way of making or converting a NIF to a MSH to play in Dragon Age
DarkeWolf
you're gonna need a 3d program like 3dsmax or gmax, blender, lightwave, or maya. gmax and blender are free. Lightwave, 3dsmax, and maya... well and far away from being free :dry:next, you're gonna need the plugins to allow those programs to import/export .nif files, and .msh files. For .nif file plugins, you can find a python script for it here- http://niftools.sourceforge.net/ just click the link for the program that you need them for. I'd recommend taking a look there first as well, so you'll know which progs it works with. BTW gmax can use MANY (not all, its a much older program that they dont support anymore... hence why its Free) of the same scripts as 3dsmax. for the .msh plugins, hit google, yahoo, bing, or whatever your favorite search engine is. seach for program name .msh script plugin and that will help you out. I remember that the plugins for maya and lightwave are about 3-4 pages into the search tho. the one that i'd found for maya was in a forum post that was helping somebody out. Now... unfortunately.... thats as far as I can help you out, other than to say that you'll need to import your model as its existing .nif and then export it as your .msh file. I have not, and do not claim to know very much if anything about actually working with 3d models. I know that there's a few postings in the Articles section of the boards, about working with Blender for some of the stuff like doing the bones, rigging and such for blender, but dunno about gmax or 3dsmax. :(I can also go ahead and say that if it's armor or clothes that you're working with, its gonna be a lot harder than just weapon/shield. AND- I will also go ahead and say that if this is something that you are porting out from another game.... Its against the forum rules to post content from other games here. Instaban, no questions asked. If its a mod from oblivion/morrowind that you're converting over, you have to have the original creator's permission to post it, and have to credit them as original authors....IF you decide to share your modwork here on the nexus ;) But good luck, and happy gaming :)
