Problem with loading mod items into new game

Recommended Posts

I had the origins game initially. Then I loaded some item mods and other character mods as well. These worked perfect with the character I had.

But then I created a new character for awakening. And now am facing issues. Character based mods are working, but items are not getting reflected. As in case of some mods like meta items, some are coming, some are not.

I tried disabling/enabling, no use.

I tried uninstalling installing, still no use.

Now I don't really know what I need to do..!!! Could anyone please help me on this.

For NEW characters (created after patch 1.04 installed):

1. Uninstall any "Item Created Directly in Inventory" mods that are NOT ".dazips".

(These are usually in your "\[user documents]\BioWare\Dragon Age\Packages\Core\override" folder.)

2. Start game.

3. Go to "Installed Content" screen.

4. Disable (un-check), any non-BioWare "Item Created Directly in Inventory" mods.

5. Create character.

6. Play until you can "Save".

7. Save game.

8. Exit game.

9. Re-install any uninstalled mods, (the "...\override" folder stuff.)

10. Start game.

11. Go to "Installed Content" screen.

12. Re-check any un-checked mods.

13. Load save.

Your mod items should now appear!

I am not 100% sure that Steps 1. and 9. are actually required. It may be that this problem is limited (and fix only applies) to "Items Created in Inventory" via the .dazip file process.

Let me try this right away and get back...

Good Luck!

Please let us know a) if it worked! and b) if you had either or both the .dazips, (mods that appear on the "Installed Content" screen) and other non-BioWare 'Item Creation" mods in your "\override" folder.

(Don't use any Item Creation mods myself, so I can't test this easily.)

1. Deleted all the non-standard folders out of my override.

2. Disabled all the non-standard dazips and overrides.

3. Created two new characters - one in origins and one in awakening.

4. Renabled/copied the files/mods/overrides back.

So far, seem to work. Some items missing in my awakening character, though the mod says it's for awakening. Could be its not tested well in awakening. But I am happy, atleast i got some. :-)

Thanks a bunch sir.

They are not required. Only user created dazips that add items to your inventory need to be disabled at character start-up. If you are using Auto-Loot and the Advanced Quickbar you may need to disable Auto-Loot at start as sometimes the quickbar won't show if you don't (but that is a sometime thing that only affects some people.)

Check out rusty's reply in this thread, post #5 for instructions on how to set them up to work in DAA ;)

Now... however, you might run into this exact same problem again, when you try to get them to load up. So you may end up having to do the disable, start character, save, then re-enable again.
