skitxx
ok so i have the latest patch. but for some reason none of my mods will work in DAA. i have used the fix to allow mods to work and i have even tried the troubleshooting from the modders them selves. in menu they do show enabled and i even tried creating a character in DAO and then import to DAA but no luck (i even cant get the mods to work in DAO). please help! Thandal
As always in this sort of situation, please provide more information than just "Help - things don't work!" a. What platform and O/S are you on? I know... since you're asking about mods it seems obvious that you're on a PC, (vs. a PS3 or XBox.) But some issues are Mac-specific. b. How is DA installed? The retail disc, Steam, or D2D? c. What patch level? You say "the latest", but by Monday I expect to see at least one new one, so by the time anyone can try to help you even if you were "current" when you posted, you might be behind. Give the exact version. c. What mods are we talking about? Appearance/facemorph stuff vs. item creation vs. changes to gameplay? Give names! Some problems are known to be caused by specific mods not playing nicely togerher. All of that stuff allows those folk who might be able to help you to at least identifiy the areas most likely to be causing porblems, and eliminate others, saving everyone involved a lot of time. DarkeWolf
And also- when you say you cant get the mods to even work in DAO....Are you talking about on all characters, or just on new ones? Honestly... from the sounds of it, you are having an issue with the savegame bleedover, where the scripts dont load because they are reporting them as having been loaded from other characters.IF this is the case that they arent loading on NEW characters.... here's my advice- 1) Use the forum's search function. This is a VERY common bug, and we answer it almost 4-5 times a month.2) BEFORE you start your new character go in and disable ALL "additem" types of mods. Start the character, play til you get to a savepoint, then save the game, exit, then re-enable the mods and return to playing. Try those and see if that's the case. Using New characters. (and yes, DAA treats transitioned wardens as New Characters, even tho they aren't... as far as spawning inventory items). If that solves it, there ya go ;) If not, then report back and we'll see what else is going on.
skitxx
yes i have a PC, also running patch 1.4. i bought the game directly from wal-mart (game disc no streaming client). i was finally able to get some of the mods to work by disableing them then and creating a character in DAO then reenabling the mods then porting to DAA. the mods i am talking about are mods that add items to the game (runic grey warden armor and the likes), no facial mods of any sort. if i say import a character from a previous DAO save file (not a fresh creation) i still have the same problem even though i used the same method for a new character. RustyBlade
It is possible that those mods aren't set up to work in Awakening. To get them to work you will need to open your addins.xml file with notepad or notepad++. Then you need to find the mods entry in the file. You then need to make a duplicate entry of the entire mod's entry in the file, the original for the Single Player and the duplicate for the dao_prc_ep1. The entry will start out looking like this: <AddInItem UID="inno_pp" Name="Name of the Mod" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1"> <Title DefaultText="Name of the Mod"> Keep scrolling down through until you get to the end of it and you will see: </Publisher> <PrereqList/> </AddInItem> Copy it all, make a new line after </AddInItem> and paste. Then find the ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" line in the new entry and change it to read ExtendedModuleUID="dao_prc_ep_1" and the mod should work in both Origins and Awakening. For Witch Hunt change to ExtendedModuleUID="dao_prc_str"
Thandal
Yeah, I saw that "str" in all the WH filenames. Was wondering what it might have stood for, since "ep_1" is clearly "Expansion Pack 1", and most of the other DLC has a falrly obvious abbreviation as well... DarkeWolf
Yep, I'd say that Rusty has hit on the head with the ones that still arent loading. Again, the game treats all characters in DAA as "new" for spawning items. However, some of the mod scripts aren't set up to tell the addins.xml file to work in that particular module (or other modules aside from the core, for that matter.... as Rusty pointed out). So editing the xml file should cure your woes ;)
