doru
Hi, this is my first post on this forum, so for start, hello everybody! Now, I have a problem with Oblivion. Let me explain. So I have a vanilla install of Oblivion, no mods, anything. Computer is win7, video card is nvidia. Game play fine, on maximum settings, but at some point after I open the journal (TAB), most of the time the map, and then close it, the frame rate of the game drops to 8 - 10 frames (I used the console to view the frame rate). The frame remains stable on 8-10fps. If you open the journal, the problem disappears, only to come back if you close it, and return to game. This happens randomly, not always, but sooner or later the problem appear. I need then to exit the game and restart it to fix it. I found a quick fix for this, I just open the main menu (ESCAPE) then ALT+TAB to windows. (you need something open, like a folder or a browser, so windows can let you switch between programs) Then you can return to Oblivion and exit the menu, and then the frame rate is unlocked. Till, next time it happens. Anyway, is annoying, I searched on the net but can't find anything about this. Anyone has an idea what could it be? Thanks for you help. :)
ArmeniusLOD
Try disabling Vsync if it is enabled. BethSoft was lazy in the implementation of the menu system to make it console-friendly, so they neglected proper support on the PC environment. doru
Thank you for the answer. I disabled vsync. I get the same result. :(
ArmeniusLOD
Hmm...try running Oblivion Script Extender and Oblivion Stutter Remover. Make sure "bHookHashtables" and "bReplaceHeap" in the .ini are set to '1'.
doru
well it worked. :D thank you very much! It still happens, but less frequently and usually after a few seconds the frame rate is back to normal. Rarely I need to ALT+TAB to desktop. I'm happy like this. :)
