This is so exciting, I've started learning the Construction set and am getting along really well placing and manipulating things, but I need help asap.

I'm using one of the houses for sale to practice on but I have to stop for a while, can anyone tell me if and how I can save what I've done so far and then open this house later and continue learning?

In the window with all the icons, click the floppy disk icon or go to File>Save. You will be prompted to give your file a name. Hopefully you either don't have Vista or Windows 7 or else have made arrangements so that the CS can still save files.

to save your work click the Black floppy at the top left of CS

if you havent named it give it a name.

to work on it again later open CS, click file then Data.

double click to check all of your Base files ie. oblivion.esm then single click your mod file and click on the "set as active file" button. This will allow you to work with your Mod and save changes to it.

 I have Win7 which is proving to be a right pain in the neck. Everything I try and do I get messages to say I need administrators permission, but I've set the account options set that I'm the administrator and enabled every option there is and STILL I get this stupid message :wallbash: I've Googled the problem and nothing I've read is solving this annoying problem.

I've saved am I correct in thinking it will only save to the Oblivion Data folder? I did try to save to desktop and My Docs but it didn't want to know.

Rumblefish - I tried the "set as active file" all I get is a render window filled with white. I did find a work around by clicking on the file in the Data folder and opening it with the CSet.

One thing that is puzzling me is that my little practice mods all have a lock symbol on them, do you know why that is and what problems is that going to cause me if any.

That's strange...I have Win7 and have never had problems saving files in the CS. I don't get any administrator permission errors or anything. Sadly, I'm not sure if I could help identify what I'm doing differently - I've NEVER had such messages. Have you checked "Run This Program as an Administrator" on TESConstructionSet itself?

Yes I've had to use that Administrator option many times, but it doesn't work most of the time. The thing that is REALLY annoying is it says I need permission, I click continue and it works so it doesn't make sense that it keeps asking me this. I'm sure it's a MS conspiracy to drive people like me insane, I feel like Win7 is trying to do everything for me, I hate it.

Lock symbols mean they are either protected in terms of account or security. If you right-click/properties you might see a button to release the (b)lock. The simplest thing I could advise to avoid permission-prompts is to install oblivion (or steam) in a new directory like C:\Games or alike and don't use any existing folders.

Depending on how fast your PC is the time it'll take before CS will load up. It'll always show a white/ screen/freeze regardless of your settings (in vista/7) and it could take from 1 to 10 minutes to load. Once CS is loaded, the render window will remain white till you loaded a cell.

I looked at properties and there is nothing that explains the padlock symbol, I did get rid of it by copying the file to my desktop, the copy didn't have the padlock, then I deleted the file in the Data folder and replaced it with the desktop copy and the padlock didn't reappear. It's a mystery to me and I hate not knowing what's going on with my PC. I figure if I don't know why, how can I fix it if things go wrong.

Installing the game I didn't get a choice of where to install it, believe me I did try it would not install Oblivion or DAO to any other folder than it did and that was a battle royal with the admin permission popping up every time I clicked on something. I eventually got over installing by holding the shift key while I clicked on the "Run as administrator". Don't ask why it worked, it was something I found on a Google search, I've no idea what the heck was going on, but the games at least installed.

Next time I'll wait longer on the white window and see what happens, normally the window stays dark grey until I select something from the Interiors window. On to lesson 2 now.

Sorry to be a pain in the neck. The white render window never shows anything, my first practice mod isn't opening at all no matter what I do. I know it's working because I have it installed in the game and it looks fine.

When I open CS it isn't appearing in the list of Interiors to open, I've tried doing what I did with my second project and right clicking the actual file then choosing to Open with, but that's when I get the white render window and nothing else, it's not even on the list in the cell view window and I haven't a clue where to go from here.
