katashy
So, I've just picked up Recettear, and so far, I'm impressed. It's basically a shop management game with RPG and dungeon-crawling elements. It has a sort of cute, manga style art style that works very well, and the gameplay is challenging yet fun. So far, I'm on loop three, day 18, with 50k pix. Louie is on level 9 and I'm a level 11 merchant So, has anyone else played it? TheTerminator2004
I've been playing it to death ever since it came out. It's a really great game. I came *this* close to finishing it, but the final payment is a whopping 500,000pix, and I barely got a quarter of that. This time around though, I'm doing much better - week 3, and I already have over 1,000,000pix, so I should manage it this time. :D To those who haven't played/heard of Recettear: Try it! It's one of the few truly original games I've seen so far this year. RPS have a good review here, which sums it up well, and there's a good demo available here, which you should definitely try. Birrii
I even pre-bought it!It's really nice :3Although it sometimes gets a bit tiresome with all the tutorials and dialogues in the beginning, it eventually gets really awesomesauce :DI've only completed the first week though... lol. TheTerminator2004
It's unlikely in the extreme that you'll manage to coplete it first time round. But the game loops, so when you fail, you'll restart on day 2, but at the same merchant level, with youre entire shop and inventory intact, and with your adventurers at the level they were before, and with the inventory they had before too. After 2 or 3 tries, you'll be selling Gold Scales and Very Strange Vases right from the start, and that's when the cash starts really rolling in. CmdrObvious
Being a big fan of trading and business games, I was sold the moment I tried the demo. Got it from Gamersgate since it doesn't have DRM like the other two:http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-RAIST/recettear-an-item-shops-tale Is it possible to amass that much money (500k pix!) without having to go dungeon diving? Edit: Answering my own question, I think it is. I've only completed the first dungeon (being part of the tutorial and all) and the rest comes from the constant 15-20% markup on goods. That usually pays the loan on time and leaves me with an "okay" amount of assets and loose cash.
HideousFox
Hello! While I realize I'm quite late to the party... I was hoping I might find someone who is willing to try and mod this game. I've got some awesome small changes and some amazing big idea's for the game to reaaaallly make it shine and have the replay-ability the designers intended but that it honestly lacks due to the game being far to easy. However I'm no modder, and I don't know code : / (i'd like to learn but this is def. not the project to start with!) I was curious if anyone out there even knows how to mod this game or can help me with it?? sample ideas are: Fix prices to make a more realistic price gap between food, general goods, dungeon items/fusions, and weapons/armor. Fix purchase prices for goods from merchants so that items are purchased at a % cost by item type/category (this way food can always be the cheapest investment and make the most money in the vending machines) DOUBLE or TRIPLE enemy strength and defense to make dungeons a challenge (and increase reward to reflect that, this should also make dungeons almost viable outside of endless mode) BIG DREAMY IDEA OF 2 PLAYER CO-OP/VERSUS (local preferably) this way you can double the enemy strength again or something but have the awesome adventure of running around with a friend (playing as Aloutte and Prime with their own adventurer) and either face off trying to get the best loot or help each other out! This would require an enormous amount of rewriting and modding and yatta yatta. and is far beyond my scope of understanding admittedly buuut would be incredibly cool/fun.
