Leliana's Song issues

Hey,

I've just re-installed Origins recently, my installation order was as follows:

º Installed DAO vanilla

º Installed Awakening (which also installed patch 1.03 with success)

º Installed patch 1.04 successfully

Then, I downloaded all the official DLCs and extra content I have the right to from the in-game downloader, and they all installed correctly, which of course included Leliana's Song. Now, I've also installed a good number of third party (non-official, community-made) mods, and I'm still not sure, but I think that one of them may cause the problems I have with Leliana's Song, but it may not be the case, either way I need to find out why I have the issues I'm experiencing.

The issue I have is quite simple, first, my character (Leliana, of course) and both teammates one-hit kill the guards in Denerim at the beginning, and the last time I played Leliana's Song I'm pretty sure that it wasn't the case, so being able to kill the guards with a single hit is surely a problem, not to mention that they only give me +2 Exp points, which I also think is abnormal. The last problem I have is that I cannot interact with the NPC I'm supposed to "insult", the noble with two bodyguards, I can't remember his name, well I do have a quest marker on his head but I can't do anything to him, talk or attack, nothing works...

So, at the moment I'm going through the mods I've installed, there's many, but only a few have anything to do with Leliana's Song (one of which is a textures mod replacing Leliana's face for that of the Sacred Ashes' CGI Leliana's face, but I highly doubt that a mere texture replacement could cause such issues). Still, I'd like to know if anyone else ever had such problems with Leliana's Song with or without modifications, and if so what could be done to fix the problems, I'd greatly appreciate some help.

Thanks.

You mention two Known Issues .

1. Leliana's Song conflicts with a number of other things, both some DLCs and Community Mods. Since it "exists" totally outside the rest of the game environment, disable (uncheck) LS unless you're actually playing it. NOTE: LS uses a different facemorph for her than DA:O, so any mods you've done to change her appearance are ignored. You CAN get the Leli you want by copying the face you're using in your override folder and renaming it: "hf_lel000_leliana.mor"

2. With DLC released between 1.03 and 1.04 there's a problem if you install them (usually during an overall re-install) AFTER 1.04. (They change some files back to earlier versions.) Try RE-installing 1.04 after all other stuff.

Thandal, thanks for your time and your help.

I've tried two things so far, which are as follows:

Uninstalled DAO (everything, including settings, no folders about DAO left)

Then...

Reinstalled DAO (vanilla)

Installed Awakening (which of course also installs patch 1.03)

At that point, I launched the game (so it was version 1.03), and then immediately downloaded all the DLCs for my account, including Leliana's Song and Witch Hunt, if it matters to mention. They all installed properly. Then I quit the game and I installed patch 1.04...

Well, the exact same issues persist. I've started a brand new game in Leliana's Song, and the exact same issues are still there. Additionally, something I forgot to mention, when the game starts Leliana receives one single stats point to allocate, and two skills points, not to mention that she and both party members (mage and dwarf) are level 10, and I can't remember of any if that was the same when I used to play Leliana's Song back when the latest version of the game was 1.03 (and back when Leliana's Song was working just fine, not to mention that I completed it back then).

Finally, I have to mention that I've tried playing Leliana's Song with ALL the DLCs under the "Installed Content" tab disabled, just in case that another modification, official or not, was interfering with it, but STILL, with all of them disabled (except of course for Leliana's Song itself) the problems persist. So as of now I can't progress in the game, and whatever I do the guards in Denerim die after a single hit, and I THINK (really not sure about that) that I'm getting only +2 Exp points per kills because I'm already level 10 (if that's a problem, as I said I can't remember what level we start with when the DLC works). I'm just baffled right now, I can't figure out what could be the problem.

I have a "final" solution, part of the always-efficient elimination process, to determine if the patch 1.04 itself is the universal cause or not... I'll reinstall everything once more but that time WITHOUT installing patch 1.04, at all, and WITHOUT installing mods either, not even official ones (except for Awakening). Then, under those conditions if it works I will risk it and install patch 1.04 and see how it goes in a brand new game. If it works at that point then it would mean that the patch itself is fine, but that an official mod OR a custom mod is causing the problems. I'll proceed to eliminate conditions that way until I find the ultimate culprit. It's the only thing that remains for now I'm afraid.

When you reinstall to 1.03, do not install Golems or Witch Hunt as they are 1.04. Do not install any user made content and if there is anything in override other than face, hair, eyes, tats, skins, textures, weapons and armor, move them out to another folder. Then try LS (lv 10 is normal.)

Ive been careful and installed all my mods using DAModder. i have unticked them all and ive tried playing leliana's song with and with the DLC.

Since you indicate that you're using DAM, I would think that you're using other mods (in the "override", vs. the "addins" folder) as well.

As always:

1. Disable/remove all mods, including the mods you can't "uncheck". (Usually that's just a cut-n-paste of the folders involved to somewhere other than the "override" folder.)

2. Try the game again.

3. If problem gone, solution is obvious.

After reading your post, I replayed LS for about the fourth time this evening, (on "Nightmare", as I hadn't before) to test if there were any conflicts. I had added GoA and WH since my previous playthrough. No problems (although as expected, the two boss fights were a LOT tougher! )

Here's my Win7/x64, install:

Retail Discs

DA:O, DA:A

DLC

TSP, RtO, WK, LS, GoA, WH (so patched to 1.04)

DAzips

Morrigan Restoration Patch (with ZDF and Equal Love addons)

Dialogue Tweaks

Skip the Fade

Qwinn's Unofficial FixPack

Extra Dog Slot

Full Combatant Dog

Polygamey

Anytime Work Map (both vers)

Helm Removal Hack

Leliana's SA Armor

Leliana Sings

DAMM Overrides

NBaio

GateKisses

Other mods

Zevran Dialogue Fix

Leliana SA facemorph (vers for DA:O and LS)

Morrigan facemorph

Less Barking Dog

Practical Dalish Female Armor

PineappleTree's Vibrant Colors

More Hairstyles

Tucked Hair

So... What ELSE are you running that might conflict with LS?
