ClewLimri
Okay, so I use WinRAR. I'm currently trying to download an Vauryks Eye Package.... I put the .esp file in the Oblivion Data folder, but in WinRAR, when I install it, there is a Textures folder. Textures/Characters/Vauryk/(the DDS files are here) Where do I put the DDS files? I activate them in my Oblivion Client, but when I choose the eyes, they are black, so I know that I'm just putting the DDS files in the wrong place. Please help. bben46
For about 90% of mods you can unzip the mod directly into the data folder. The unzipping program will create any needed sub folders and place the files into them. Unfortunately, it will also place any stray files such as a read me or any pictures that are zipped in the mod into the data folder also. This will not really matter to the operation of the mod, but will quickly clutter the data folder with files that are not really needed for the game. Instead, when you download the mod, create a special folder - outside of the Oblivion folder, to hold your Oblivion mods - mine is in the Downloads folder. C:\Downloads\games\Oblivion. Then create a new subfolder in that one for each mod. Move the mod into that folder. Now unzip the mod into the same folder that you put the zipped file into. Copy each game file - the ,esp and any mesh texture an other files into the game data folder. Usually the mod will be structured with a separate meshes folder, a separate textures folder etc. copy these folders into the data folder - when you are asked if you want to overwrite always answer yes(it doesn't really overwrite, it appends). Now, any read me or pictures will be left in the downloads folder and not be cluttering up the data folder. And you have a backup of the mod if you need to uninstall it. Always read the readme just in case there are some special install instructions. A better way to install is to use the OMOD feature of the OBMM utility. If you don't have OBMM, get it. I would not play with out it.
