I'm having problems starting the game. When I try to start the game, it ctds, and when I click for more info on teh problem, it says that there is a problem with Fallout3.exe, that command 0x00627181 referenced memory at 0x00000000, the data could not be "read." Even with no mods active, it gives me that. Could someone provide some advice on how to fix this?

Yeah... something's glitched up during installation or just over time.

You might have to try a re-install. If you installed your mods correctly, you should be able to save them from deletion before doing so.

Just... please don't ask any of us to send you a copy of Fallout3.exe. We won't.

Always cover the basics (these are the most common causes of start CTD's):

- are you patched to 1.7?

- upgrade / remove G4WL (Games for windows Live)

- have you modified your fallout.ini for multi-core CPU

- have you done a default install (e.g. installed to C:\Program Files\.... ) and you run Win7 / Vista - if so uninstall and reinstall to a directory outside of C:\Program Files (e.g. C:\Games): Note that the this doesn't always fix start up CTD's but if you mod it's really a must do because of UAC.

I never asked for one. I just wanted to know if there was any chance that I could escape a re-install and still fix the problem. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, sorry... It's just in the past day or so we've had a few people ask for the .exe files... pattern recognition, you know? Anyhoo, anokii gave good advice there. If you're running Vista, UAC will give you hell.

Okay do you know what CPU you have?

Easy way: MS XP: Right-click My Computer - select Properties - CPU info should be dislpayed on the box the pops up.

Win 7: Same steps - different screen thats all.
