sp1r1t
hi everybody, i know you're sick of thos "MW crashes all of the time"-threads, but this is NOT such a thread :-) situation is as follows : since i installed Tribunal, i cant play the game anymore becausewhen i start a new game, at the very beginning, it crashes. EVERYTIME!inside the prisoner ship that takes you to Morrowind, everything seems to be alright, but when i open the door to the deck of the ship, my box crashes COMPLETELY. no windows desktop, nothing - black screen. no alt-F4, no taskmanager, nothing is possible but rebooting. f**k @$$! morrowind was installed from scratch, then Tribunal was apdded, the thetribunal patch. my configuration is as follows : win2kpro SP4ati radeon 9600 pro (newest drivers)asus a7n8x deluxe (newest drivers for all onboard components, newest bios version)amd athlon xp2600+ morrowind was installed from scratch, then Tribunal was added, then thetribunal patch. additional info / history of morrowind trouble :i had morrowind installed on this box when i had winxp on it, and it seemed 2 work fine(i played till i had a level 26 character). then i had to reinstall xp, (and morrowind, of course) and it crashed avery 5 minutes (especially almost every time i quicksaved). as i dont like xp, i then installed win2k, but the problems remained.i read thousand forums threads, installed different versions and patches, nothing helped in the slightest way. so i stopped playing (which was impossible anyway) and got angry. there are other games to play as well. then tribunal was anounced and i hoped for help, then read about the crashes still not being fixed. so i grabbed the copy of a friend of mine to try it, and not only does it crash when loading 1 of my savegames at 50% of the times AND when quicksaving etc, but in addition to that, i cant start a new game properly - icant even set a foot on the vulking island cause i cant leave the ship! crashes, crashes, crashes - i feel like banning morrowind from my hd forever... unless some1 can help me. and please dont tell me 2 get new drivers or update my bios. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM OF DRIVERS, MY DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE AND SO IS MY DIRECTX VERSION (and there is no single game but morrowind that very crashed in such an ugly way since i have w2k running on this machine - none. i dont remeber any other game crashing at all) i really loved the game, but regret having paid so much money for something that doesnt work at all. if it was a chair, a toaster or a book, i would just take it back to the dealer and ask to get my money back, but tell that to a software dealer... Marxist ßastard
Go back to SP2... SP4 is evil. Since that's my same exact configuration (...but with a vanilla A7N8X and no SP4), the only thing that I can think of here is Truform. If you're running the FPS Optimizer, see if Truform has been accidentally enabled. I had a string of uptimes lasting about fifteen minutes because of that... The game would have an extremely low FPS in interiors where it normally got around 50, and the entire system would automatically reboot after loading any three exterior cells.
