abrb2011
EDIT: I rolled back my drivers to ver 14.3 (the first rollback took it to this), driver date 9/15/14. I no longer have any flickering or purple fog on loading screen. As far as I can tell, the issue is fixed. This is on a fresh install of Skyrim, all local files were manually deleted after uninstall to be sure they were wiped. All graphics have been lowered to minimum and all special effects turned OFF, including in the Catalyst Control Center. If available "Use application settings" is checked.Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6700 series. Most recent driversProcessor: Intel quad core i5 @3.2GhzSkyrim + Dragonborn + Official High Def Texture Packs. The corrupted savefile warning is because I'm hitting F9 to start the recording.- Flickering IS NOT present in the intro scene, at least as far as Helgen.- Loading screens with fog often have the fog flickering bright purple.- Other areas in the game also seem to have flickering (tested in the Abandoned Prison). The caves below Helgen keep show no sign of flickering in the fog, but the small streams flicker in and out.- Sometimes the map flickers with white spots.- Didn't happen on my old Nvidia card. This card played Skyrim extensively without this problem in another rig. Can't figure out exact graphics card model because it just says what series it is in the dxdiag and the device manager. DurtyNelly
Wow, that's mad flicker. It's not artifacts, it looks like the kind of flicker I used to get with my AMD card on water and mountains. To be 100% honest, I never did solve the issue. Have you tried to roll back your drivers and see if that at least helps? Im convinced this kind of thing is AMD driver problems, but with my setup I was having so many other issues besides Skyrim that I just upgraded my card and went with Nvidia this time around. Does it only do it in Skyrim? Do you have any texture mods that do anything with fog, like Vivid Clouds and Fog? Do you have the Unofficial patches, SKSE and ENBoost? Gravegirl
I'm having exactly the same problem. On a HD 6750 with lastest drivers, but a Q8300 2.5 slowie cpu The stream/drain running from Dragonsreach towards the Eldergleam tree flickers aling with some of the fog and smoke. Same case for fog/smoke and lights helgan keep. Clean install of skyrim, all mods in workshop unsubbed, nexus, stupid manual ones all deleted, just skyrim and the official update. 100% vanilla cardboard, no texture packs. even defragged! i've already tried turning AA/ AS VS .ect off, up, down with no change. kinda just dawned on me its probably the new drivers, although i always assumed it wouldn't make much difference on older hardware. Also, the fog on the load screens is now sometimes a bright purple. Edited December 19, 2014 by Gravegirl
Pronema
I am also getting the same problem. I think it is the new AMD drivers, I am also using an old card, a 5850. It only started occurring after I reinstalled windows and updated all my drivers, I might try rolling back update by update for the video driver from amd to see if that solves the problem. I am heading out of town for Christmas so I won't be here for the next week or so, which means I won't be able to see if that fixes it until I get back. I will keep an eye on the forums though. DurtyNelly
I believe the new updated drivers (from both nVidia and AMD) to optimize for Dragon Age Inquisition and Far Cry 4 are stuffing Skyrim. I had a few issues with the new nVidia drivers too, but it seemed to settle down after some tinkering and everything is good now. If the previous drivers worked for you and no amount of tinkering will fix your issues, personally, I would roll them back until the next driver release. Skyrim is the only game this happens in and I am a hardcore gamer so I can definitely say it's been thoroughly tested across a lot of games, most of them around the age of skyrim or newer. This card came from a fellow gamer who takes meticulous care of his tech. These reasonings are why I'm not really entertaining the possibility that the issue is being caused by a failing card.I'll go ahead and try to roll back drivers. I tried updating to beta drivers to fix the issue to no avail. My install of skyrim is 100% vanilla. I ensured there were no remnants of old mods, ini files, user files, etc. I've tried it on new saves old saves and all. I even turned off all DLC.Gravegirl I have the barney fart fog in the loading screens too. Edited December 21, 2014 by abrb2011

trackho
Thank you very much for finding the fault of the new drivers. Here I was thinking there be some trouble with my STEP/ENBoost (and REGS) setup that made me run the rigmarole of reinstalling Skyrim over and over.
