Malchik
There are different uses or 'scared' in these posts. Anyone who is really scared by it wouldn't dare play it. A few things might occasionally give us uneasy dreams or tight stomachs if playing alone in the house at midnight when you hear something tapping at the window. (OMG is that really the tree?) What most of us experience is a temporary shock, that sends the heart racing for a few seconds. I was playing OB a few days back. I live three floors up and have large sash windows which in this heat I leave open. A woodpigeon decided to fly in. Unfortunately it chose one of the windows I had not opened so there was a great 'bang'!!! That did give me a fright. Had world war three started? Was it Armaggedon? Only when I saw the poor bird with its eyes all screwy - like Ka in Disney's Jungle Book - could I relax and laugh at it and at myself. I don't think anyone can be so blase as to say that never happens to them in OB. (The feeling I mean, not the woodpigeon!)
CJD
wasnt this topic on the official forum? anyways, the only thing that gave me the creeps was in Sancre Tor, the Gloom wraiths screech was creepy.
coolboys
I get startled when the house in silent, and my pet cockatei (parrot) decides to jump onto my head. ;D
n00b_chaos
I never really had any major scary moments in Oblivion. However, I have to admit, being in the plain of Oblivion and being rushed by many powerful Daedra does get the blood pumping  But in Morrowind... The first time I ever heard the cry of a cliff racer. I had just gotten to Suran on foot, and I heard it. At first I thought it was some woman being brutally strangled, which was the part that scared me. But when I just saw the bird attacking the guards I was at ease... That is, until they wouldn't stop attacking me in the wild :P

thursti
your bed kinda saved you but it could have cracked your neck ;). Anyways, the mod "Unique Landscapes: The Dark Forest" Got me abit shocked, I was exploring the whole place running around and all, then it got late and I decided to stay in the abandoned village, I slept there and then this freaking ghost screechs at me. I was like shi*! Then I ran away from the village to find imps shooting at me. I was like OMFG!!! THE FOREST IS CURSED!
Nerivant
I don't even need to download mods for Oblivion to startle me. I was doing the Forsaken Mine Fighter's Guild quest last night, about 11. I was walking through when a troll barreled around the corner and roared at me. My hand slipped off the mouse and hit the edge of the desk. Startled? Somewhat. In pain? You bet. Other than that, wraith screeching will make me shudder. Corpses just make me think: "Ouch..." Heads impaled on sticks just make me slightly sick. On another note, I don't really thick Oblivion can really "scare" someone. Startle someone and freak them out for half a second, of course, it's human nature. Soil their pants and give them nightmares? No, I don't think so. Sure, Oblivion has it's moments, but not to that point. On another, more random note, did anyone look up at Dagon... while standing under him? Not guilty, but I have friends who are. one of them claimed: "He's hot!" They make gay jokes like that. Evangelion_2014
Meh. I really don't get scared at all, but I will yell, say "BOOM HEADSHOT", curse at the TV depending on how much COD2 I've played that day. Basically, I just swear at the enemies if they startle me... And BTW, the wraith's cry isn't soothing, the gaur's "purring" sound is(grabs imaginary gaur and hugs it).
Nerivant
That headshot thing reminded me of when I hit some guy in the eye with an arrow, I yelled something like: "Yeah, right in your fecking eye!" Luckily, nobody was home, but I probably scared the neighbors...
cryocry
That headshot thing reminded me of when I hit some guy in the eye with an arrow, I yelled something like: "Yeah, right in your fecking eye!" Luckily, nobody was home, but I probably scared the neighbors... I shot a guy in the mouth once. It was cool. Too bad they don't stay there when you shoot arrows into their noses and heads in general. But once, I was killing Imps in the Frostcrag Spire Vault (vault guardians), and, suddenly, that Diram Sarethi scares the f*ckin' sh*t out of me by talking to him. Ummm, excuse me, Diram, I'm in the middle of killing Imps! So, I load him up with arrows, and when he runs away, I said, "Yeah, you run away, right back to Aleswell! And, then, a guy with a dagger comes and trys to kill me, just as my stomach was settling and my heart leaving my throat. It turned out it was that god damn Imperial Watch Ex-Captain Audens Avidius. So then, everything gets all going again, and I fill him up with more arrows. And as I leave the vault, the Imps followed me, so then I killed them, saved, then turned off Oblivion for an hour, and turned on my tv (yay for tv chips!). There were all these dumb shows on, so I decided to watch Super Size Me. When the guy barfed, it reminded me what will come out of some Imps when I go on an Imp hunt, so I turned off Super Size Me (also a... well, I can't play Oblivion w/o one, so you know what), and went my Imp hunt. Then all these Minotaur attack me, and I get really pissed off, so I let loose the Wrath of Zeus (on the Hilarity mod), and there was mass minotaur death. Also, I saw a few Imps among the deaths  ! And, I didn't expect it, because I was in Anvil's castle courtyard, zombies attacked me! Without warning, as well! So, then, I went on an undead 'n necromacer hunt, and, yeah, very cool mass death of those who apose the hard working emporer (I did all the god damn work >:( , Martin just translated it >:( ! Why not just do it himself >:( ?).
