birmancat810
This CTD has me totally frustrated.....Anyway, here it goes. My system is - AMD Phenom II x4 970 quad core processor overclocked to 4.02 Mhz and an AMD Radeon 7850 w/ 2 gig memory. 8 GB of RAM. When I first start off on Skyrim, there is a little window that appears in the upper left hand corner, and right before Bethesda logo appears the screen sort of flashes and then crashes with the message "Skyrim has stopped working." Now I can understand this happening if I had a bunch of mods installed. But I don't have any mods at all. Just Skyrim.esm and Update.esm and that's it. All my drivers are up to date. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Skyrim many times including removing all mods installed. I have went so far as to uninstall Steam and load everything from new. This is the Legendary versioin, I had to replace my original Skyrim when Steam didn't recognize my password and would not reinstall. I guess that is from completely removing Steam. I have tried everything I can think of to getting this to run again. Any HELP would be much appreciated!!!!!!! camaro_69_327
Could be a couple things...left over remnants of the way Steam and windows uninstall crap. 2 folders to have a look in... 1) APP DATA....C:\Users\ [your user name] \AppData\Local\Skyrim in this folder could be an old "plugins.txt" causing all kinds of trouble, have a look. 2) MY Docs.......E:\Users\ [your user name] \Documents\My Games\Skyrim IN the My docs folder could be the OLD Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini Try deleting these 2 files, Run the Original Game launcher (this generates new INI files), see if the game launches... IF this doesn't get ya running post back...:)
