Selective True Iron Sights.

you would have to change each weapon model individually, we can make it so if you have iron sights disabled, there would still be iron sights for all rifle weapons by changing the weapon models because the iron sight animations are stored in the weapon meshes (this may not work, and it might just f*#@ up all of the weapon animations), OR we could remove iron sights from the handguns only which would take much less time, but you would be stuck with the zoom from fallout 3, without the animations changing while aiming. but all options would require replacing weapon models and may require altering their stats

I think you may be a bit confused re: "iron sight animations". Essentially there is a sighting node for 1st person, the animations don't change based on the presence or absence of the node.

Ah so one of those Complicated ones. Never mind then

Not really, but a little tedious. Essentially, if I understand correctly what your asking, you want fo3 type zoom (ie no iron sights on pistols)? If so delete the sighting node for the pistols you want to change. I'm slammed right now, but give it a few days and if if no one is willing to do it for you, give me a shout in this thread. I'll see it since I'v tagged it as watched, and if I have some spare time, maybe I'll be able to do it for you. Hopefully though, someone else will crank them out for you (and save me the time) since it's pretty straight forward.

Been thinking about this, how about a script that when using a pistol, it is set to true iron sights off, then when using anything else it is on. I don't know anything about scripting so I don't know if it will work.

I don't think there's any functions affecting sighting nodes. Although I could be wrong about that, scripting is not my forte. I have only a passing familiarity with the vanilla functions and even less with NVSE's, but I think removing teh sighting nodes from the weapons you don't want to have iron sights is the way to go.

I'm going to try and resuscitate my catatonic social life tonight, but tomorrow I plan to set aside some time for modding. If you pick a few weapons (say half a dozen or less) I'll try makeing up a mod for you *if* I have time (got a few projects going). Maybe that will hold you over until someone can commit to doing all the ones you want.

Well most, if not all of my weapons and armor are custom made and modded. WMX and the likes. geck customizing etc. so removing nodes and model editing is gonna be hard.

OK so you'll need to do these yourself (due to permissions in re: to other authors works). I won't go into the basics of installing nifskope, associating it with nif files, using FOMM to extract the nifs etc. There are a ton of tutorials out there that cover that information. Instead I'll just focus on removing the sighting node. Open up the nif of the pistol you want. The leftmost node is the sighting node, it should be roughly inline with the iron sights (you can see it highlighted in yellow). You can also scroll through blocklist and look for "SightingNOde". Here is a pic as an example;

Right click on SightingNOde, select Block->Remove Branch or alternately hit <ctrl><del>, save (as same filename). You'll also need to do it for each model of a modded weapon that you want to remove iron sights from.

There may be additional steps, but I think that's probably all you need to do. Try it on one pistol before you go on a mass conversion jag. Removing the sighting node should cause it to revert to a simple zoom behavior ala fallout 3.
