tehazn
Today I just finished installing oblivion and all sorts of mods. This was my first time doing this but to the extent of my knowledge everything was done properly. I started up the game and proceeded through the sewer tutorial. After clicking the exit and accepting all race and class options the game continues to the loading screen. The loading bar will fill completely and then the game will encounter and error and close then asking me if i would like to send an error report. I have a feeling this is a pretty common issue but i could not find it anywhere on the forums. Not sure if it is a mod problem or just an installation issue but any help would be greatly appreciated. ArmeniusLOD
If you're using Creative ALchemy on Vista/7 to restore surround sound then you should remove it. There is no problem with running it in the vanilla game, but it can become an issue once you start piling on the mods. Another common problem when this happens is that your load order is wrong. Download BOSS and the newest masterlist.txt file and run it to automatically sort your load order if you haven't done so. This shouldn't be a problem, but it has helped me before with crashes outside. Download and run TES4LODGen. It's a good idea if you're running a lot of mods to use Wrye Bash and build a Bashed Patch to ensure maximum compatibility between them. If all else fails, deactivate your mods one at a time until you find which one is causing the problem.
bben46
Did you test the game to see if your computer could run it before installing any mods? Many computers that cannot really run the game can run until you exit the sewer. At that point the graphics requirements jump up quite a bit. I have seen this on laptops especially. Don't bother with the error report as that is a Microsoft thing and it will not give you any real information except to contact the maker of the program that failed. Also, some mods require the latest patch or OBSE, and can crash the game at any time. Look in the articles section and find my revert to vanilla article to see how to run your game with no mods AND without having to reinstall, look for articles by bben46 - I am not at my main computer so I don't have the information readilly available on where to find it. You may also want to look through my article on crash help.
