Editing Soldiers

Hi. I hesitated to make this topic and if I'm stepping on any toes I apologize.

Let me start by explaining what I've been doing.

I hired 100 soldiers and I've been slowly raising them to colonel, comparing their stats, and letting the weaker ones go. "Breeding" if you will using the second wave mods of "not created equal" and "hidden potential".

I don't mind continuing to do this, it's kind of nice to just to have this excuse to start up the game from time to time and play missions with out necessarily intending to beat the game.

That said I've become curious what the end result might look like. What it might be like to start a new game with a squad of soldiers destined to be "uber mensch" by the time they reach colonel rank. How having just six well trained/"bred" soldiers might effect higher game difficulties. And similar.

Which brings me to why I made this topic.

I wanted to try editting my soldiers and playing around with these ideas. First problem I ran into; toolboks for Enemy Unknown is currently under mod review on this website and I'm having trouble finding any other websites I can download it from.

Most other "trainers" or "editors" seem... Problematic and geared more towards decimating the game than experimenting with soldiers and their stats.

So I wanted to ask a few questions;

If I get Enemy Within what happens to my save game on Enemy Unknown?

Would it irritate anyone terribly if I asked why toolboks for Enemy Unknown is under review and unavailable at the moment?

Are there other or possibly better options for soldier editing aside from toolboks?

I really appreciate any input anyone can provide and again I apologize if my making this thread was pre-emptive to trying something else or reading more of the other topics. I've been searching around both on the nexus mods, nexus forums, and google in general for about an hour prior to typing this.

Work on Toolboks stopped before the last update to EU, so it won't work with the current versions. In addition, it never had more than "proof of concept" capability (and only to the first soldier) to edit a save game. It wouldn't do what you want anyway. The author has moved on to other games, and despite many pleas (public and private) from the community has not been heard from since the beginning of 2014. Her source code was never released. Pure speculation, but most likely the mod was pulled at the author's request.

EW is a different game than EU, with all files in different subfolders. You will not be able to continue your current EU campaign in EW, but you can still continue to play your current EU campaign (in EU) after installing EW. You get an option in the launcher as to which version you want to play each session.

Other than the "trainers" and "editors" that work on the game in memory, there isn't much available to tailor your soldier stats. However, you might want to look at the "Soldier Bootcamp" mod for EW. It comes the closest (that I am aware of) to your desires.
