doman
My idea is basically a successor to sentient weapon from Oblivion. You would wander Skyrim (and maybe Oblivion/Blackreach/Solsteim) for materials and then you'd finally pick a soul (or maybe use Dragon souls...) to finally enchant it. You could change whether it's one handed or two, it could increase damage by lowering your magicka regen, and it could have its magic customized (By choosing the soul it holds) I remember this being one of my favorite mods in Oblivion, and I think Skyrim could use something like it. (I even have an outline of what kind of materials it could use.) Thank you for considering the request. Edit: After reading some of the other mod proposals, I feel like I should probably elaborate a fair bit more if I want to attract someone skilled enough to make a mod. The quest would likely start with you being approached by a master blacksmith upon reaching a skill level (75-100) in smithing. He would explain that he's dying and his last wish is to take on an apprentice in his unique craft, binding actual souls to weapons and not just the energy from a soul gem. This would lead to a number of quests to locate materials that can sustain a soul within a weapon. You would find a purely daedric material (I'm thinking madness ore or amber from shivering isles, basically add a small sideq uest that involves a short dungeon crawl, or just drop it into the Pelagius wing in Solitude), Next would be something purely aedric, this time it would be a unique form of ebony in Solsteim or maybe a secret cache of Aetherium. Then you would need something to alloy these, maybe sacrifice dragon souls, or something akin to that. After this, you need a soul, you would likely find that in Falkreath, or maybe the smith would offer himself. You would forge the sword using a unique forge and ultimately strike down the one holding the soul, binding them together and giving the blade its magical abilities. The sword would whisper and nudge you to do things, causing messages to appear. This could be voice-acted instead, but would be a lot more work. Some other ideas: Spell that lets you switch the sword (or mace or whatever) from one-handed to two, not changing size or damage, just letting you wield it either way.Different possible spirits leading to higher damage, magicka regen, or stealthA quest to acquire a matching shield using leftover components Edited December 22, 2014 by doman
