hrm. and the only time that it does this is when you have Dragon Age running? It doesnt do this with any other programs?

Is this on a laptop or a desktop PC?

My first guess is that its your drivers, or other software associated with your video card. So I'd say to go to the website of your v-card's manufacturer and look there for updates.

It is a desk top . Only dragon age origins has this problem. I have fallout 3 and oblivion installed. They run with no problems.

DA uses the "Infinity" game engine. Oblivion and FO3 use a completely different one, "GameBryo". So not surprising that the issue is restricted to the first.

In addition to checking the physical connection between the system and monitor (I've seen this kind of effect when things had gotten a bit loose) I would go with DW's advice to verify/update video drivers.

Yours is the first report I've heard of anything like this, so any more data (install mechanism, patch version, O/S, CPU, RAM, graphics card and driver info, installed mods, etc.) would help.

Ok, since its a desktop system, I have to ask... is your video an actual card, or is it an onboard video system (part of the motherboard).

If its the latter, you may have issues with being able to update to what the game requires.

If its the former, I'd recommend going to the manufacturer's site for the card and see what all you can update.

DA is finicky and doesnt like some of the graphics cards or their softwares.

You MIGHT also try adjusting your settings for the game graphics. Such as the resolution that you're playing at, setting texture and graphics levels down to a lower level in the game settings, and see if possibly that helps. Not really thinking that it will, but it's worth a try.

And yeah, like Thandal said, DA uses a COMPLETELY different game engine than any other game out there, so you can definitely expect different kinds of behavior from this one than from others.

I have to agree with DW on this. When was the last time you updated you video card drivers? And different games, like Thandal stated, have different engines that make them run. When you installed the game, did you update your Direct X?

This sounds like a video driver issue to me. I ran into a similar problem on my old system when I first got Doom 3, and when I got the add-on Resurection of Evil, it needed a driver update even though it was using the same engine and graphics as there were just enough changes that a simple driver update made it run smoothly.

EDIT: I was able to unpack the cases for my Oblivion/Bioshock and DAO to check Direct X requirements, and BS uses 9.0c, but the box states just 9.0 for Oblivion. DAO uses 9.0c. I wanted to look to make sure because it was something I personally did have to worry about since I am at DX 10 for use with Crysis.

Short answer in "No, it is extremely unlikely that 1.04 caused your video to suddenly display strange colours."

Please post your system specs (the info from the DA "Config" report is good) and any installed mods.

(And again, have you already gone to your graphics card vendor's site and installed the latest drivers?)
