m3lisk
Well, you can only get the furniture they offer without modding, but to get them to sit up where you want them(i had same problem) just hold left mouse over item you want to place from your inventory to table, then inventory menu will close and you will have the item right out in front of you, then simply continue to move untill item is over where you want it to be, then release mouse button. It may take a while to get good at it.

m3lisk
If you hit F4, then click on active quests tab, then find the one with the name of your house, then clickon it, then click on "MAP" there you go. It will show the location of the store to buy furniture for that specific house. The furniture is a little pricey tho(~2000 per set).

GBHis
They're probably user-created, and the author didn't care about adding that feature. It's pretty easy to do, but takes some time, which can be spent better on new quests :-) You guys should try the grab-key, Z, it lets you move things in a much more controlled way. Just point at the item and hold Z.

Its a very delicate art to place items, especially in in shelves. I know what you mean about knocking off other items, its to do with game physics (much easier in morrowind) and its very frustrating.I've seen a funiture mod. but sorry, i can't remember where it was. GBHis
When Bethesda made display-cases, they should have made them as containers. Like Reznod's dolls, making the cases "equip" the items. Oooh, new experiment. Creat a torso, preferrably textured transparent, and making it equip the thing - in the case?

I know what you mean about knocking off other items, its to do with game physics (much easier in morrowind) and its very frustrating.I've seen a funiture mod. but sorry, i can't remember where it was. There is the Imperial Furniture or somesuch mod. It places a house/shop outside the Imperial City where you can purchase havok physics furniture. (I.E. it canbe moved) I haven't actually tried purchasing any of the furniture yet since I've been busy with other things. As GBHis said, try using the 'z' grab button to move things. It grabs an item by the location the cursor is at when you press 'z' rather than by the center of gravity - as the left-hold in inventory method does. Using 'z' is usually easier. I wish they'd made it much clearer in the manual rather then having the single line they did as it took me ages to discover it myself. Also, as indicated by previous posts, each of the houses from the original Bethesda has a specific store to purchase 'upgrades' from, various furniture the is nailed down once you buy it. Houses from mods do NOT. The furniture is okay, but most of the layouts are kind of ugly. I've also experienced a bug where the shopkeepers won't sell the upgrades, but I got around it somehow. if you know what I'm talking about and are having the same problem, let me know and I'll try to figure out how I solved it. Tiberiu911
I know what you mean... I was trying to place my full daedric on the table and when I got to the last item i knocked the gloves out of place and by attempting to put them back I knocked something alse... As said before, the Z key helps. A little hint, try walking when you manipulate it. Also, if its not a mod-house, then you get a quest mark. It will tell you where to go in order to buy the furniture.
