Help with faces

Heyas Itsari :) Welcome to the forums :)

Ok, there's a couple of ways that you can install these mods. You can either download them and if they are in a .rar .zip .7zip or whatever, you can just unpack them and put them in the documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/override folder.

however, if they are in a .dazip file, you should use an installer. I recommend either DA Modder (DAM) or DA ModManager (DAMM)

http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=286 DAM

http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=277 DAMM

DAM can handle both .dazip and .zip files, where DAMM can handle .dazip and .override files (such as natural bodies all in one).

for chargen mods, you will also need this- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=971

because each of these kinds of mods uses a file called chargenmorphcfg.xml the game engine can only read one of these files, so you have to use this program to compile all those lists into one file, so the game will read them all.

This will allow you to choose the features from the mods that you installed on new characters that you make. Or faces that you download that have these as part of them.

Hope this helps! Happy gaming! :)

thx for the reply it was a great help

so far everything is going pretty well

only 1 thing I can't seem to find the hairstyle in this link

My link

That's because the mod you linked to is a full facemorph replacement. There isn't a standalone version of that hair. It's "fused", if you will, onto the face that the author created specifically for this version of Leliana.

You might try to contact the author directly and inquire about her/him makling such an optional component.

Sorry, :( . That's the best advice I can give, unless you want help replicating the author's work yourself with the Toolset...

actuallyyyyyy.....

I just opened up the folder containing the info from that file. All the files that are in there, could be manually added to the chargenmorpcfg.xml file. :D

just add the hf_har_hb7704a and b file correctly to your existing chargenmorphcfg file then resave it and they would probably show up in the character creator or toolset.

MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR CHARGENMORPH FILE BEFORE DOING THIS

just go into your override folder, find your chargenmorphcfg.xml file and right click it while holding down the shift key, and choose open with- then direct it to open with notepad.exe (use windows search function if you dont know where it is, if it isnt listed in the available programs to use).

then go down to where the file says <hairs> then down to <human females>

and then copy and paste in

<resource name="hf_har_blda_0" cut="02"/>
           <resource name="hf_har_hb7704a_0" cut="1"/>
           <resource name="hf_har_hb7704b" cut="1"/>

over that first line right after <resource name="hf_har_blda_0" cut="02"/>

IE- Copy the text that I put in the code box. Then in your chargenmorph file, highlight the line that reads <resource name="hf_har_blda_0" cut="02"/> and click edit then paste, or press ctrl and the V key to paste it into the area that you highlighted. then click File, then save.

However, thats ONLY a human female model, so if you try it with an elf or dwarf its either not gonna show up, or if you add it to a face in the toolset, it's gonna look really wierd on the toon in game.

This isn't the same "hairstyle from the Leliana SA facemorph" that we looked at two days ago?

My mistake... Shoulda' checked closer.

Sorry... :blush:

It is, and if DW is right it should show up, and also means we were both mistaken for the other person. However, I think the other person was trying DW's trick and it was not working for her, so if this works here, then we may want to get with that other user and let her know to try this method. Perhaps the other user was typing in a different pathline than this one causing it not to show up in the CC.

EDIT: DW, the other user Thandal and I are talking about is dani80. If you see a response that this is working before either of us do, can you let her know about this XML trick?

hmmm well, I guess that I should test some of this stuff before throwing it out here. Instead of just assuming that its gonna work ;)

:D

Ignore the crappy quality, I had all graphics settings set at bare minimum last time I played, and forgot to reset them :rolleyes:

I took it a little bit further than what I had in my original reply, just to be sure. Here's what I added to the xml file

      <resource name="hf_har_hb7704a_0" cut="1" />
     <resource name="hf_har_hb7704b_0" cut="1" />
     <resource name="hf_har_hb7704a_2" cut="1" />
     <resource name="hf_har_hb7704b_2" cut="1" />
     <resource name="hf_har_hdt2b_0" cut="1" />
     <resource name="hf_har_hdt2b_2" cut="1" />

(ignore the colored text, thats the code tags adding that, not me).

I ended up with two new hairstyles (I am guessing that the ones marked "hd" are for LOD?)(Level of Detail). The first being the one that I have in the pic. The second being identical to it, but with braids running down the sides.

AND, after going back, and deleting those entries from my chargenmorph file, they werent there anymore. So that, along with them being selectable BEFORE the vanilla generic hairs(I added them at the very top of the list), I'm sure its the right ones. ;)

Now keep in mind that I only tried this in the IN-Game CC, I didnt try it with the standalone CC or the toolset. But, it should show up (as much as custom hairs show up in the TS) there in the TS as well. (Again, assuming).

Dan- I'll do a quick hunt thru your and rusty's posts and see if I can find the thread that you were talking about ;)

Much thanks Dan, I do appreciate the link! :)

Also, I should mention that I got this by adding ALL the mesh, tint and tone files into the override folder. (That other thread, she was trying to selectively add certain ones.) So yeah, just for clarification, I put the whole Leliana-CG folder into my override folder and then added that code to my cfg.xml file ;)
