Fallout 3 Radio Music Not Playing

That's ok... We all have to rest sometime, I just finished myself ^_^

  1. darnBtn 8 hits "music"

I just looked it through in Notepad ++, I found a couple instances of "sound" but no "music"

I am also not sure exactly what I'm reading in those... Where you are to change settings inside is not obvious for your "average player"

Good luck with simulating it again... Any number of factors could have gone wrong in it, as I am sure you know. It may have just been a fluke, a one in a million thing...

But it must be hard... thank you, once more for taking the time to do this...

yeah i found a hard drive close to the type you used, the data I found in all 3 saved games shows this information, it's well what I intend to use is a sea gate Barracuda 10000 GIG Sata drive, it has records on it I am transferring off to another 4 terabye Book for storage, I'll reformat the drive and make it ready for that OS. It gonna take a while, the other OS systems I have here tell me the data 64bit..matched ...does not match. Don't know what to make of that ?

the 3 saved games do not work, but I can extract information from them, still will not load.

it could be the graphics encoding too, screen resolution can also effect out side saved games...so no match can occur, eh, I do what I can.

I know because when I transfer my own saved games between Operating systems, I have to reset the compiled archive before transfers to the other ones settings, other wise no lody the game file.

Got a while, there is a lot of data here. so thegraphics you have? settings, desktop settings, in game settings, would be nice to know before hand?

Note [pad ++ set the xml association to it on properties, then they will appear as text doc's ,the nopn it and click search..type music. search current doc .you should get 8 hits.

these are just activators that point out wards to other things in the game, they are init's so the settings get changed ,it works the same as the graphics mods do, changing lighting and things, once set, the saved games will retain all of this information.

the problems associated with things like this is it's not default, Default code is world wide and will render on any machine regardless of OS because it's all the same, it's when you start to tweak things to your liking, things become Unique to that system.

so we need to be on the same page and as close to the game tolerances we can to use the same file.

this is why we upload them as default settings and stipulate the settings, so others can use the data.

Those that are braven like me will try anything "once. twice, maybe 3 times...untill we give it up. I get lucky some times too.

Alright, one thing to note though: The sound
It started when you first boot up the game. You know how when you start Fallout, you hear the... Ok, it's hard to describe. But you hear stuff. Like the pictures sliding, and music playing as you select your options. The save is not the only thing where the bug happens. From the very beginning, music does not exist.

The problem occurs as soon as fallout is opened. The only sound that can be heard before you load a save is the "click click click" of your mouse over the menu options, like "new game" and "load game".

Come to think of it... Isn't that what darnBtn.xml changes...?

<clicksound> UIMenuOK </clicksound>
<mouseoversound> UIMenuFocus </mouseoversound>

Now, to settings.
I can't open the original launcher for the game... I had to rip it from Steam in order to mod it, because Steam was making things impossible.
(I DO own the game though, paid my $11.99, lookup "TheKillingJay" on Steam if you must know. Aimed at other people who may view this)

So I can give you a rough guesstimate for that.
Resolution: 16:9 Full screen
Quality: High
All I can remember...

In game settings are very malleable... however, here are some
Difficulty: Hardcore
All Save features: Off
Hud colors: Blue
Everything else is pretty much a bar...

I do not know if you want or need this, but here are my pc specs:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit
Processor: AMD® AM3 Processor
Graphics card: RADEON™ HD 6670 GPU 512MB-1GB GDDR5
Memory: 6gb

Sorry for lack of spoiler, I can't find the button to make them :c

real close to what I can provide, For the game, and obtains the updated launcher, Bethesda has the updater, it will work on your system and provide an updated version of it, regardless if you moved the data, it overwrites anything placed into the registry file so, in the steam apps folder you will end up with a fresh set of files clean.

I did the update, it did not change anything I do not think. At least, my .exes just start the game up like normal, no launcher.

Steam is saying you don't exist, but that's ok ha ha

hang on, I did tell you it was set to private...and that means no body gets in to my account period unless i want them there.

Ill get you the proof, one moment.

  • Verification Approved.

Ok so if you moved the data out? you an simply copy it back to it's origin, then perhaps the launcher will resolve it's self.

The patch, is over 50mb in size and it does ion fact update the games own launcher. Not having a game launcher means the data was corrupted on install and with it, you can't even set up the graphics for this game ,so...where did it go?

Ummm... I don't know.

Like I said, I had to rip it out of steam.

So now, when I try to open the launcher file, instead it opens steam and tells me to re download and install the game again. I had all the graphics set to what they needed to be at, I didn't think it was a problem at the time...

So I run the update

It updates the game, then opens the game.

As far as I can tell, nothing changes, I can run the game fine, just no graphics options...
