LarryFromXBL
Alright, here it is...Be prepared to be dumbfoundedI tried to fix it on my own with a few mods, none of them worked. The game still works fine, I only crash after an hour or so of play, instead of the 5 minutes I would sometimes get. At this point I've accepted that music will not work... So if there is nothing you can do, that's ok However, there is one possible lead: Ambient Wasteland modIt adds in sounds... And it works fine. All other sound mods do not work.A possibility: Ambient wasteland uses .WAV audio files... Meaning if I changed fallouts .mp3 to .WAV, I think something interesting may happen...But some sounds in Fallout work already, like Gunshots, Voices, footsteps, etc. And those are all .mp3s.But it would be a process, and take forever to convert all files. So even if this IS the case, converting all those files... May not be possible, or worth it. But I'm probably wrong anyways... Purr4me
A trick know to a lot of us might shed some light? It's goes like this, sense the games origins are that of xbox or xlive software's..built in to the game engine, it will recolonize it's own data naming schemes rename any folder that is Loose in the data folder called music to xmusic run and verify if the sound functions, or what does or does not still work.the game formats will run, *.wav, *.ogg, *.mps and I believe there are a few mor e not native to windows that also work too. I have to be careful of what I type here because there are rules in place preventing discussions of "console" talk, regardless of that, the source was from that arena ,there can be no denying this ,but we keep to the rules, thus we can discuss remedies if possible.I would be interested in knowing just exactly what sound files begin to work. Purr4me
we use just those as "tools" as they point directly to the systems music data, were produced as replaces so what ever files /data they point too....one of the places might be what's been turned off. you said even with zero mods, the bug remains...we now do not care about the mods them selves but rather the games own source materials, what would turn off default music's...so already made mods are there to use as templates we take advantage of and look for something out of place. this does require the want to do this. Any xml files you might have, inspect them for one that alters music.
Purr4me
Looking at that line up , it struck me, there are settings with in some mods that change the music sources, custom music's so once chosen, they are forever written into the saved games files as well as a xml file is told to load. I have to wonder if and when you chose a selection of music?

Any xml files you might have, inspect them for one that alters music.I want to figure this out. As for .xml files, I gave them a lookover. All the ones in the Fallout install seem to have nothing to do with sound, except maybe for dialog_menuHere is a .rar of every .xml in my Fallout 3 install: http://www.2shared.com/file/GDlpAH4v/Every_XML_in_Game_Install.html I have to wonder if and when you chose a selection of music?I install my mods in an order... First big overhauls... FWE, EVE, WMK, MMM, etc. Then I install the patches for those... Then a bit of lighting... Then content, like quests, homes, and some cool features... Then I install aesthetic mods, like textures, animations, body, etc...The problem originated when I was installing content... And around when I installed UIO I did not install any mods that affected Music(That I am aware of) until after the problem started. It was when I tried to make a selection of music that I really "noticed" the problem. Here is a screenshot of the all of the mods I installed around when the problem started. I think UIO was the cause. You can not see it on the list, but at some point I believe it was around 12:30(The arrows just point at the time and date, nothing more)http://screencast.com/t/Qdszu3d1cm9K While we are not looking at mods now, maybe this will shed some light. Edit One: In the red square is the time that the problem started. Edit Two: I can not remember exactly when I installed Ambient Wasteland first... I uninstalled it a couple times because I thought it was the cause at some point... It may have been around the time as the others in the box. Purr4me
The problem originated when I was installing content... And around when I instalThen this shall be the focus point. that is Obvious.Downloading now, apologies, I had a long day so i took a cat nap. So I am to guess If I were to just installthese two mods, I can / should be able to reproduce things...refresh..your system OS is what? I will boot into a flash drive VM with the exact same system, get on the exact same page so I should be able to get an exact result.I have most of those mods, I have Tons or room. and It's New years EVE, I am inside safe and sound ..<--- Sound. well ok. you get it.\sounds like we might find the sound bus here soon. replicating the bug IS important, because if we can make it / break it ? we can then fix it and share it. Purr4me
darnBtn 8 hits "music"Turn music's on or off Seen in note pad ++ Earlier today I installed UIO with my other UI mods(UIO last). I let it get access to my .ini file like I was supposed to(so I thought)? When I booted Fallout up next, pretty much all music stopped working... I noticed it immediately but wrote it off, thinking it was just a minor bug. 12 hours later I coultn't take it anymore. The radio doesn't play music(only voices), title music doesn't play, and the game just feels a bit off, (as I have been playing without the music) I can hear ambient sounds I installed just fine, everything else good. Just music of varying degrees not working, from the radio to gameplay. From my recollection UIO was the mod I installed for this to happen. Spent the past two hours researching codecs and the radio stutter only for me to remember that UIO was the mod I installed before it happened. Is there a way to fix whatever it did to my .ini? I don't know how to get another one, and a lot of other mods rely on it(clearly) so can I revert UIO's changes? I'm trying to follow the bread crumbs here. I miss my music Like I said before, I don't think this is that radio stutter problem. I went and did a whole bunch of the things found on one of the threads involving codecs, only for it to not make a difference. The cause of it was installing a Mod, which I THINK was UIO. I installed a good 60 mods yesterday, however UIO is the one I believe was the culprit. Anyone know what I should do from here? Edit one: I did install Ambient Wasteland and a couple of Radio mods. I don't think Ambient Wasteland is the problem, as it didn't start when I installed it and it works fine. For Radio I installed GNR Enhanced, Existence Robot Radio, and Conelrad, all of which I installed after the music disappeared(it was when I tested the radio mods that I realized something was really wrong) Edit two: This probably doesn't make much difference, but I went and booted the game up with NO mods active, and the problem still persisted. So this would mean that A)The problem still might be a mod but I would have to fully uninstall it to find out. B)It possibly is the .ini, but there's no solid way to find out, unless I went and uninstalled all those mods... (Yea, idk about that :l) This is where things started out, it is very clear as to the what and where things went aery.So...that being the case, I am taking precautions to isolate things sense I do have all 3 copies of different instance of your data bases archived game files. Basically this contains the exact codes of the bugs and the system set up.I will be using how ever a later, More advance operating system "64bit" Windows 10 to test these things on. Note: I will not be able to use nmm because it wants to install Obsoleted software ".Net what ever version it is."I will use Tannin's Mod organizer to install and sort the mods with. so that might not match things completely and should have zero bearing on the out come. I will use only the main game, no mods other that the two specified. + possible any other UI mods, reading through some of the descriptions gave an outline about how and what needs to take place, this road took me off site to abandoned web sites, no longer being updated, old and where and torn sites. Darn being the focus here. Continuity needs to have a steady flow of data, all in one spot, but the UI things are all over the maps !Nothing is consistent....so that sure as heck shows me Why the UIO mod was made, but gathering up the data for this exercise is a nightmare for any one. Chasing ghosts literally. This is one for scratching the head....since I have the exact copy of the xmls, I shall use them as is in MO as an installed mod, loading it last..this way I can isolate the data, resource the bug and not damage the game data. If how ever I find the game data gets damaged, we will bring in all that are concerned with said data to see where things go bad....For a simple thing and game, this kinda of thing can sink ships. I HATE 64 BIT SYSTEMS PERIOD. Just so you know....I am biased. I know what works and what does not. kitty Edited December 31, 2014 by Purr4me
