Menu key change?

Not sure if this belongs in Technical Support or somewhere else. Alas:

The ESC key on my laptop doesn't work and frankly it's a pain to have to plug in a separate keyboard every time I want to play Fallout, since the game gives no option to change the menu (default ESC) key to something else. It's mostly a problem just because I only have this problem with Fallout. This problem doesn't pop up in other programs which give me the option, for examply for Skyrim I use the Home key in place of ESC.

Is there a workaround in the .pref file or some other way I can reset the key so that I can use the Home key or something else to access the menu (the menu with options, controls, save, load, etc. in case that wasn't clear).

Thanks in advance and my apologies for not being terribly tech-savvy.
