Old version of .nif ?!

Hypercube

Recommended Posts

This is just great...i solved all problems i had with textures and FINALLY exported my first .nif model of sword.

I opened TES4 Editor and made a new weapon, i loaded the .nif with no problems...but , when i wanted to add that weapon to world, i got something like "warning ! old versoin on .nif file. continue playing ?".

If i click yes, i get a warning sign, like i get when i add object without nif...are there diferent versions of nifs and which version do i need ?

heres what i found...there are 3 types of nif, those are .nif .kf and .kfa. I export the models as .nif & .kf...am i really that unlucky that i need .kfa ?

There is much confusion about the models(+formats), and nobody really seem to know how things work. Those who knows keeps it for themselves, and that is bad.

.kf is an animation file. It is an abbreviation of "KeyFrame".

.nif is the mesh itself. The textures are stored in dds format. I've not been able to find out what .dds stands for, but .nif means "NetImmerse File Format."

You've asked for information many times the last days, and here's what I've found: (found at google.com 2 minutes ago):

Follow the link here. They may be close...

Er, I meant none of our projects need it yet.

Brandano is still working on updating the Blender scripts to get Oblivion files supported at all and Amorilia is gone until at least October.

Gundalf and Tazpn are both taking a break from the 3ds Max project.

The Maya plug-in doesn't do anything with animation at all yet and it's about the last thing on my to-do list.

NifSkope doesn't even use Niflib.

So there won't be any demand for the function to be added to Niflib from any of us for a while, and I feel like working on the Maya plug-in right now. =x
