  1. 1. Should there be more Regulation?

I might say that there is a huge gap between strident inviromentalists, stop driving cars, and just having regulations for something that can represent a thread to inviroment. We do have regulations on all kind of industry that can be polluting. We have to, because sometimes fast buissnes and money making, overrules attention for other things like inviroments, perhaps even human rights.

And yes we also do have regulations for cars, in most countries, In Europe your car most go for a regular inspection to have license plates, perhaps they are more save than an oil rig. As for the green energy, there is no need to be fanatic about it, but it´s a nice supplementary source.

Now since there are already regulations in place, as has just been pointed out, - did you actually take note of that Balagor? - and that they carry strict penalties, there should not be any need to tighten the screw any further on the oil and gas industry. In the second example that Harbringe showed, no doubt proceedings have already been taken.

I think the problem highlighted here is that the green lobby are very keen to start as many scare stories as they can about the oil and gas industry, in a bid to push their own pet forms of energy. And of course a certain President that we could mention is very keen to look the tough guy and to try and play the heavy with the oil and gas companies whilst pandering to the green lobby. No-one denies that the Gulf disaster of earlier this year was shocking, but it has generated a form of collective hysteria about anything to do with drilling. It's almost as ludicrous as the Princess Diana conspiracy theories...
