saladmuncher
Hi, i used to play oblivion and modded it quite a lot. i was pretty familiar with how mods worked and usually didnt have any trouble. ive recently re-installed oblivion (i stopped playing for a while) and all the files like meshes and textures are compressed files, i had never seen this before this before, my files were usually folders. so i looked it up and found bsa unpacker but it didnt quite work out things were just messed up and missing. i really want to start modding again and am unsure of what to do, i was wondering if there is another method i could try of uncompressing these files or some other solution, thanks. p.s. i couldnt find any topics on this but if these is please just give me a link to it. scrivener07
Thats super strange. Are they in archives? Are you using someones backup game disc(bad)?
bben46
All vanilla game meshes, textures etc are in the BSA files. You do not need to do anything with them as the game will use them in that form. Only the mods put the meshes, textures etc into separate folders. The needed folders will be automatically created the first time you install a mod that needs them. All BSA files should be in the data folder and not in any sub folders. Unpacking the bsa files can cause problems and should only be done if you need a particular mesh or texture for a mod you are making in the construction set. Some mods use BSAs. If you find one just copy the bsa into the data folder and it should work.
