weird amorphous thingies in the air, and other phenomena

Every once in a while there will be this weird, spinning, swirling metallic-like thing in the air, pulsing and turning and moving randomly, and then it sort of randomly moves away. I haven't got a good pix of one, but it happens occasionally. I would just like to know if anyone else sees these, or is it maybe a mutation from too many Nuka-Colas?

I also recently took out two Raiders near the Anchorage Memorial (other side of river) and their bodies kept rolling and diving and rising and writhing in the pavement! I couldn't stop them with 'nades or bullets or whatever; they just kept appearing and disappearing into the macadam! Anyone ever seen that?

Then last night, after adding Bonds Tenpenney tower (not that I am saying it caused it), there was this tall, tapering, wavy 'curtain' that pulsed and rotated near where the kids in the cave live (forgot the name); it was so tall that it seemed to go up into outer space. Once I was some distance away, I turned and it was gone. There were also smoke clouds whipping by in the night air.

I've also seen bramin stuck 100' in the air, and mini-guns, and sometimes when I fast travel to an area, the NPCs will just drop out of the sky and then go about their business!

TELL ME - should I just stop drinking the Nuka-Cola, or what?

yeah, I get that too. mostly when I kill something - instead of dropping to the ground, it flies up in the air, spins, rotates, goes inside out, till even a raider looks like a piece of Virtibird wreckage. Never had it until I installed a mod, so it is a mod that causes it. No idea which one though. Happens sometimes without a fight though, mostly with Radscorpions - they will appear on the horizon, move towards me, then fly up in the air and do the origami.

Worse bug - if I go up the elevator in Tenpenny, I materialise INSIDE the guard up there, and neither of us can move. It's like a scene from The Fly! Even if I shoot him/myself, he dies and is attached to my feet like a block of New Vegas concrete.

Sometimes when I toss a few grens in a room, I have noticed that the dead bodies seem to go through "death throes" or whatever it's called. They jitter and bang all over and the god awful battering sound emanates every where.

As far as I'm aware, this is a vanilla bug that happens when an actors body loses collision in the transition from alive to dead. The "deathclaw rocket" bug is also vanilla. Not aware of any fixes for either bug. Makes me laugh whenever I see either one.

Satanslilhelper is correct.

It is a bug that is found in all versions of Fallout 3 (PC, PS3 and 360) and is NOT caused by mods.

There are LOADS of bugs in Fallout.

The flying deathclaw is very common and has no "cure", just shoot it or leave it :P

The flying things swirling and flying everywhere are actually dead creatures/npc's

Sometimes you can stop them by shooting at them or blowing them up.

But theyre more amusing when you actually cause one.

Kill enough people and theres a high chance it will happen, hysterical =]

Thanks for all the explanations; I did not know it was also in the MODless game as well. It IS hysterical and I wouldn't want it fixed! Just last night, walking in the wilderness I came across a party of NPC's (Wasteland Travellers I think) shooting into the air! When I got closer 2 deathclaws came rocketing down, one dying just after landing, the other ran into my bullets. NPcs turned and walked away without so much as a thank you; I was laughing too hard to care. I really love this game.

Also a couple of nights ago I took out a Super Mutant in a building corridor and blew his head off and knocked him up against the wall, where he stood - dead, but standing! Never saw that before either. I took a Polaroid of that one!

p.s.

And where are all the laptops in the world? Ever wonder about that?

I also find that occasionally Lucas Simms likes to walk "up" off the ground several steps then drops back to the ground in vanilla.

That reminds me that the woman who rewards you with a gift occasionally has been appearing up on the guard tower in Magaton, so that you see her from an ant's eye view, or sometimes she appear there and plummet down to talk with you.

All these quirks make this a truly unique game!

I love these bugs as well, really makes you laugh! I have one that hasn't been told here yet: a Super Mutant was firing at me with a missile launcher, but for some reason the missile stopped mid-air :D

Then I killed the mutie and went closer to the missile. It still had the smoke coming out of it, but it would not explode even when touched. And this was back in Vanilla as well.
