SweFerk
Hello everyone! Thanks for taking a look at this post. I love Oblivion and I'd love to start contributing to the world of mods.I have done some simpler textures based on free texture resources. My question is as follows;Would anyone like to share some tips and tools for a beginner texture creator? I would gladly take on simpler texture tasks as well! The things I did before has mostly been structural such as walls and landscape. However I would love to try new things! Appreciate any help I can get. GratefullyFerk (Saw after this post that the title might not be very good. Sorry for that.)(I also figured that this post might be better of in a more general mod forum? I don't really care what game I make things for.)
David Brasher
I am only a minor retexturer and that is not my specialty, so I don't have any really good texturing tips, but if you are looking for tasks there are lots of them available. You might take a look at "File Requests/Suggestions" of this forum. People are always asking for things that are retextured over there. There are also always lots of large mod projects starting up or recruiting new members. Many of them want retexturers. If being your own boss is more your style, you might just put together a mod of things you have retextured and upload it. It would probably work best if it had a certain theme like "shirts" or "iron armor" and included six or more retextured items. The gamers really appreciate it if you make the mod playable. Like if the items are in the game in a chest, or being worn or used by a bad guy. It might even be cool to have a small quest to get your items. But even if you just dump your items on the ground without a chest, that is much superior to those stupid mods people make where the gamer has to go into Nifskope and the CS and make the resources playable before ever getting to see them in the game. That is just wrong. Modders make mods. Gamers play games. It is not fair to make gamers be modders if they just want to play.
