peteed1985
ok firstly I have played up to the end of the original game once and broken steel had some issues I think I have fixed what I wan to ask now since I just formatted and reinstalled game is are there any mods that are considered essential? really don't want game harder since I normally play at easiest settings but still wanted general advice on what mods are considered essential (i'm new to using mods with game) also is there somewhere a list of what each DLC adds to game? I mean features not story missions I only have broken steel and don't even know what it adds or even if it adds anything before you finish original part of game lol is broken steel the only must have DLC or are some of the others as important? I wanna make a build thats good with that Chinese Assault Rifle and normal Assault Rifles but am unsure what other skills to take or how to build a good character any advice? Spaceritual
The Fallout 3 wiki describes each DLC , just Google Fallout 3 wiki as I am not sure I can link you to it being as it is off site. My must have mods are The Book of Earache for non energy weapons it really lets you customise a few weapons including the ones you want to use by adding scopes and so on...and it has a nice quest. I also use Fellout but that really is a personal preference thing . Fallout Street Lights is also another nice atmospheric mod assuming it won't slow your pc too much. if you want a new player home for yourself I can also recommend Underground Hideout 7.5 many recommendations may depend on your systems ability to handle the extra goodness but there are Texture packs and so on if you have reasonably modern machine:) Edit. Forgot FOSE and Fallout Mod Manager as well and of course BOSS for sorting your mod load order....

Broken Steel was the sheyit when it first came out. I remember the disappoint on my face the first time I finished Fallout 3 (original) with 3000 surplus Gatling Laser Charges and 12 nuka grenades. Seriously. Did anyone say "Wtf? No last Boss"? I know I did. Broken Steel bumps the level cap from 20 to 30 and allows you to continue playing after you finish the main storyline quest, whereas it used to just cut off. SweFerk
I have five main mods that I use. Marts Mutant Mod (Creature overhaulFallout Wanderers edition (Game overhaul)Project Beauty (Npc looks overhaul)Energy Visuals Enhanced (Energy weapon overhaul)Weapons mod Kits. (Standard weapon overhaul)+ Some compatibility mods for them to work together. Must-haves if you ask me. They take a bit setting up and getting to work but it's worth it. Other mods I like are:Fellout (Lightning overhaul)Dogmeat Leather armor (Name says it all)DCinteriors (Adds new lootable buildings and areas in the entire wastelands)RobCo Certified (Adds a perk that let's you repair robots and make them fight for you) None of the DLCs are really essential but they do add a lot of nice stuff to the game. And correct me if I'm wrong but the official DLCs mostly just adds story and not features. Mods take care of that. Right? That's pretty much it. Hope it helps.
