DanielJacksonMPC
So, I am Listener of the Dark Brotherhood. However, for roleplay purposes--and general feeling bad about the whole thing--I want to be able to quit the Dark Brotherhood entirely(since my character is going to be redeemed, etc, go through the Knights of the Nine quest, that sort of thing.) Now, I searched for a console command I could use to remove myself from the faction, and I couldn't find one. So instead I am asking to see if there is a mod that can help me leave this faction for good after already reaching this point in the faction. I searched the Nexus for a bit and didn't find anything, but I figured that I wasn't using the proper search terms if such a mod does exist. Help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. scrivener07
part of being redeemed is paying for what youve done. I dont know of any mods that do what I think your looking for and you cant reverse quest stages with the console. Imo your going to have to live with your choices and stay away if you want out.... or start a new "good guy". If this is all about roleplay Im sure you can work it in. But if its all about not SEEING the faction listed in your journal idk there might be a way to mod that. You might have some luck requesting a mod that ONLY HIDES the dark brotherhood faction from your list. Ask and see what happens
Ferryt
As scrivener07 implied, the only way out of the Dark Brotherhood is in a body bag. Unfortunately, even that doesn't work because the Powers That Be won't let you stay dead in this game. When I get to the end of the DB quest line I just ignore it and pretend I'm not a member any more. It's frankly more trouble than the paltry payment is worth to go out of my way to visit the Night Mother once a week and then report into Arquen. Besides, I detest both of them for reasons I've stated in other threads. The only reason I might ever go back to the Sanctuary is to see the smiling faces of my previous brothers and sisters (and to listen to Vicente's sexy voice) -- yes I use Whispered Warning so I don't have to murder everyone. If this is totally about role-playing then it shouldn't matter if the game thinks you're still the Listener or not. You aren't going to get any messages relating to the DB, so I look at it as "out of sight, out of mind". Yes, you'll still be listed as a member of that faction, but that shouldn't hurt immersion any more than any of the other "meta functions" to which you, the player, have access that your character knows nothing about. That said, you can use the console command "Player.SetFactionRank 2F872 -1" to remove yourself from the Dark Brotherhood faction. I have no idea what this might do since you can't reverse quest progress using the console (or any other way, to my knowledge), and that could have some unusual consequences, since the game will no longer see you as part of the Dark Brotherhood, but at the same time still knows you have to be a member of it. Save your game before you do it. That's all the advice I can give.
chronosmagus
To get as much content out of the game I'm usually part of the dark brotherhood early on and later on 'redeem' myself with the pilgrimage from the DLC. I'm going to have a look what consequences removing the faction might be and might make a small mod around it with a quest involving something similar to visiting the shrines and such.
