Really AEVWD doesn't work........

so i have been at this for a long time now. i installed 1.8 by manually copying all the mesh and texture files over into my oblivion data folder. then ran the tes4lod program. it finished. i dont notice a difference. whats wrong? the lod program is giving me no errors and takes about a min to run.

i want to get my oblivion like the pics people upload where you can see a ton at all distances and not have shrubery just pop up as am running along. im not concerned about performance, im pretty sure my comp can handle it i just want distance!

Currently i can see really far but i cant see shrubbery or rocks or any real detail until i get close.

Thanks for any help i can get!

have you also dragged the .esp files into your data folder and activated them? you'll find those in aevwd's city plugins folder.

no. i hadn't done that. i just did though. i still see no difference. trees still pop in at 50 yards or something. thanks for the idea though. im using HDR lighting and not bloom....could this be a problem?

I really want to get this to work. i got a i7 and a 5850 that i cant use lol........

interesting. i did however, after copying ever single one included in the 1.8 folder into my data folder and running tes4lodgen get serious slow down. i do notice the buildings in the distance just not trees, grass and small rocks. really annoying that i get so much slow down from a few structures in the distance though. that normal on modern top line computers?

Set ugridstoload down to 20 or 15 and see how it goes, but as i recall you also could have gotten that out of the readme. After that make sure you check out streamline and oblivion stutter remover. Read the readmes. Else it wont work im afraid. And i hope you have Quarls TP3 Redimized+Lighter/Regular/... aswell as Short grass installed. That should give you some performance back!

interesting. so i took your advice on changing ugridstoload....which was set to 5. i bumped it up to 20 and now it crashes when i try to load a game. readme doesn't say anything about the ugridtoload nor this streamline and stutter remover but i will try both and report back, got to fix the crash problem first.

thanks btw.

Sry, that should have been uGridDistantCount of course! Default for that entry is 25 and it can be safely lowered down to 20 or 15. Set the treerange to the same value just incase.

Then after Streamline and Oblivion Stutter Remover have been installed like i said get that texture packs: QTP3 Redimized + Lighter/Regular/....

FPS should be back to acceptable levels. ^^

okay. what does lowering it do exactly? i figured it made things appear only closer........ higher = better?

oh i see what you were trying to do. ya i got the fps thing fixed im just trying to get the actual game to show trees and grass without spawning them into my vision.

edit - setting uGridDistantTreeRange or uGridDistantCount to anything from 15 to 60 makes no difference. stuff still spawns in out of nowhere at 50 yards approx.....

I see. Well that is gonna be a tough trade off then, which last but not least you must decide on your own. Good luck tweaking.
