Simplex1 Posted January 10, 2015 Share Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) Why would a modded Skyrim (LOOT order attached) only work after a fresh PC restart? What is changing after that to initialize the game? A setting for my vid card, or .ini? If I try and start the game after waking the PC from sleep, it loads, then goes to windowed mode, has sound, and is a black unresponsive screen (even when bfull=1 in skyrimprefs.ini). Launching from NMM SKSE. Edit- I think the game stops responding, per a brief notice in Task Manager. If I return to the game it might start working. So perhaps the display driver isn't engaging fast enough? And after a wait period elapses, it just crashes/freezes? Di0nysys Posted March 11, 2015 Share Posted March 11, 2015 I'm having a similar issue where the after a while from playing, if u try to load a save, the game CTD's. TakodaWahya Posted March 17, 2015 Share Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) So far, is an issue with Windows, not the game itself, Sleep mode can have quiet problems with some hardware mixes out there, once you make this comeback to desktop, can have some problems bringing back all the drivers and features sometimes, even some games can work properly, but some other not. Try first to disable the sleep mode, just turn off your screen when you go away, and see how goes for you after one week, another thing to do, is update all the drivers for your hardware, for windows and also the video card, You can google how to disable sleep on windows. In my case game works well, menu loads fine, all saves work fine. However game works fine only first time after PC boot, second time will cause constant crashing. TakodaWahya Posted March 17, 2015 Share Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) I was answering the first post in this topic, now I realised that it was an old one resurrected... :tongue: In your case, Cryohelinc, I would check with Ctrl + Alt + Delete, if any process related to Skyrim is still running even after the game has been closed, process like Tesv.exe, or SKSE.exe. or any other like that. If that is the scenary, something is stoping the .exe to completely exit, and a workaround could be giving admin permission to it. If this is not the case, it can be a third program like Game Boost, the ones that put unnecessary process to sleep before launching a game, that after you retunr to desktop, doesnt bring back the full system, can be also the drivers for your video card, a mix between system drivers and the video card also. I would update all the drivers for my system, to be sure is not the case. Since Skyrim, after end running, is just a exe, no internet, no behind process, is a simple program with no secondary process, should like always shut down completely, just what I have told you before is the only prossibles reasons that comes to me right now. I always checked in task manager for any traces as that is a logical cause, however there are none. Drivers are updated, and I never use any game boosters. Crappy software that can cause more harm then benefit. The only logical conclusion is that Skyrim makes some sort of temp files, that get deleted upon system restart. However I have cleaned both registry and temp folder and temp files overall on system with CCleaner, that did not help either. Only thing that works is to restart PC then game works again without any issues, exit the game, try to load it, crashes nonstop. Makes no sense to me. There are no mod conflicts either, LOOT ordered mod's, all cleaned, all updated. Game works, until you exit it. Makes no sense. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
