Smooth613
Okay I see nothing at all that should stop you from playing on your system. This has to be some simple oversight we're all missing here. Although like Ben said you need to ditch Oldblivion, it's not for either of your systems. Delete it totally from both of your systems and forget it ever existed. Again just to back up the points made by Ben, C:/Steam is fine, desirable actually. Also you will have to manually set the video settings on very high in the Oblivion Launcher.exe since your card will not be recognized for reasons mentioned above. Make sure you set it very high manually or the incorrect shader packer will be used. Disable VSync while you have the Launcher open. ** Try and start Oblivion again once you do the above mentioned. Just to summarize; Completely remove Oldvlivion, Open Oblivion Launcher.exe and manually set the video settings to Very High. Disable V-Sync. **Here is an additional step** Important!! And this may be that simple step we've been missing.... s*** It just hit me,.. I never mentioned that you need to delete your Oblivion.ini file. :wallbash: It's in your Documents > My Games > Oblivion > Oblivion.ini Delete that before you restart Oblivion after manually changing the settings above. (I'm gonna kick myself if it's just because of that .ini file... :wallbash: ) Don't get me wrong I hope it's that simple, but that's a terrible oversight on my part. Especially since you mention Oldblivion, it would alter that ini file beyond recognition. Don't worry Oblivion will automatically create a new one upon startup. And remember you will have to manually change the settings in the Launcher.exe each time you start Oblivion after a crash. If the game never gets past the splash screen the ini will not get saved. Ok try and start Oblivion and see what happens? It's either gonna work or crash again, naturally. If it works awesome! And stupid me for not telling you to delete that ini file sooner. If it doesn't start up then we've got some more work to do. I know that's not what you're wanting to hear but lets get this figured out. It's not hardware, I'll assure you of that. It could be a software conflict though, which is what we're gonna start on next. What I'd like you to do is perform a "Clean Boot". Follow the steps listed there and get back to us. I would also like you to temporarily remove any USB devices that are not needed. Like a camera, a game controller, etc. Of course not your mouse or keyboard if you use USB type. I don't want to go too much farther until we try what I've mentioned here. So try all of this, starting from the top, step by step, follow exactly. Then report back here. I'll keep a check here for the next few hours but after that it may have to wait until morning, then I'll check back. If you follow everything mentioned here and still have problems don't get too discouraged. I have some more ideas we'll give a go tomorrow or whenever you get a chance. Like I said this has to be something rather simple or just an oversight and we're gonna laugh about it when it's over. Just keep us updated, and good luck!
