LOOT Load Order Advice

Hi! I'm hoping someone experienced here can tell me if the load order that LOOT gave me is good to go, or should be tweaked at all.

I have Clutter purposefully above SkyUI, because it's, like, technically a master file but has the .esp filename.

First Ignore any advice and just run the game as set by LOOT.

Game runs OK nothing needs moving.

All else is down to personal choice.

Whenever you see move all ABC mods together given as advice it usually is because that's how BOSS did it.

It's not always wrong, often the game runs OK. Thing is BOSS was manually edited. Plugins are arranged in groups. The largest has Skyrim.ESM as the only requirement. All Plugins in that group can go in any order at all.

BOSS was arranged into alphabetical order because it made manual editing easier.

LOOT is automatically sorting the mods into the groups but the internal order of each group doesn't matter.

So Trust LOOT until you actually have a problem loading the game.

Don't trust LOOT if you want your game to work properly. LOOT sucks!!! Plain and simple. I've discovered a simple way to tell whether my game is going to run happily or not. If you start a new game and the wagon wheels are out in front of the wagon or worse the whole screen is tumbling then you have an unhappy load order. LOOT can't even get some of the basic mods in the right order. For example, the High Res Texture Pack patch that should be right after the main files, it has put in the middle of the load order. It also can't seem to put mods in the proper order, like dg comes before db. So, I run LOOT and start a new game and my screen is flipping and flopping all over the place. I run BOSS with the exact same mods and started a new game and everything was smooth as silk. If they expect LOOT to replace BOSS then they should probably get a better grip on how the load order works because I haven't seen any real change in over a year that tells me that they have a clue.

Stop trolling.

Loot works fine for 98% of the population here. You had another post EXACTLY like this on another thread. You just copy/pasted your trolling comment. Get a life. Get your mods fixed, cause there is obviously one conflicting badly with another.

Getting my mods fixed has nothing to do with the fact that they can't seem to tell the difference from dg and db and putting them out of order. Yes, I do know that it's supposed to be the same team, but it's hard to believe that the same team can be so negligent. BOSS tells you if it doesn't recognize a mod and puts it at the end so that you can figure out where it should go. LOOT just sticks it wherever it pleases leaving you with the impression that it must have stuck it in the right place. I tried using LOOT because it was going to replace BOSS, but when I have to manually number every mod because LOOT doesn't seem to have a clue and after a year and a half I have yet to get past 2nd level because of a poorly designed mod organizer then it's time to go back to the old one that knows that you don't put db before dg and that if you don't know a mod then just stick it anywhere without any notice to the user. Really bad programming.

I wonder why no one else seems to have your problems with LOOT. Maybe they are all doing it wrong?

There are thousands of users that use it that never see what you are ranting about. LOOT does not work the same as BOSS because it is not the same as BOSS. That is the reason it was renamed during development.

BOSS works off of a database of known mods. If that mod is not in the Database, it just gets dumped at the end in no particular order for you to figure out.

LOOT uses a series of algorithms to examine the structure and content of a mod and decide based on what it finds where to put that mod. THEN, there is also a database that it consults - not a full database of every known mod, but just those that the LOOT team has found that do not fit the rules. If you come across some anomaly - then, instead of waiting for the next iteration of the program, you have the capability to make your own rule to cover it.

The results will not be the same for BOSS and LOOT because they work entirely differently. And - for many mods there is no special place it absolutely must be in the order - texture mods without a esp are one of those. As long as they are after whatever texture they are modifying it really doesn't matter. If there are 2 or more mods that change the same things, then it may be a matter of preference which one you want to take precedence.

Now - WHY did you not report your findings to the LOOT team like they requested instead of going off and trashing the guys that spent thousands of hours of their own time to GIVE you a FREE tool to help you arrange your mods? You are not obligated to use LOOT, just as you are not obligated to use any mods at all.

Ok ben, I'll give it one last chance and I'll refer to your troubleshooting mods Blog. By the way, troubleshooting is my specialty. It is the one thing I do well, probably from the ADHD. I've always found the things that others don't and maybe this is just another one. Then again it could just be me, but we'll see.
