K00L
Okay, well the card has an HDMI plug and said on the box on the bottom "REQUIRES AN HD CAPABLE MONITOR" in small letters. And it is the correct output my monitor auto-detects which cables are plugged in and uses HD if both VGA and HDMI are in. I have disabled the on-board card, though for some reason it is IMPOSSIBLE to do through BIOS on my computer, trust me I spent hours searching through the 5 or 6 tabs (which is like System Info[ just gave what the motherboard was and etc.], Time & Date[ Obviously, the time and date], Advanced[ which I am talkin bout next], Boot Order[ The order it boots the drives in], and Exit). The only tab that even mentions it is just which video card to use first (PCI, PCI-E, or on-board), which I set to PCIE. The other time it says it is asking how much memory it can use, and it can NOT be turned off through that. Now here is what I now KNOW is wrong...The slot that the old card burnt up in was damaged with the death of that card. I don't know exactly what happened to it but somethin got fried. It still gives power to the card, but it does nothing else. In fact even having a card in the PCI-E slot that was damaged prevents the hard drive from checking and therefor prevents the start-up of the computer. I know the disc drive works because the light that shows it is running works, but when that finishes the orange light below the power button on my computer does nothing. If we set disc drive after hard drive it skips the hard drive while the card is in. I can not explain why this happens, but I am guessing the damage to the slot causes some kind of conflict with the card, and that conflict then becomes a conflict between it and the rest of my computer. Here is what I am going to do about it...This Friday for sure, I will be getting my two year old Gateway with Windows Vista on it back. I will install the card and monitor on that and simply keep this computer, because it is still good and can run some things just not very big games. Thank you to everyone who helped or attempted to help me.I will tell you all whether or not this card even works :P
K00L
Ok I know I know I'm bumping a really old post, but I found the truth!!! The card just happened to be a piece of "high-quality excrements" (Ha ha Fallout) from "Worst" Buy and I returned it for my money. You see it didn't work in the computer that was brought from Oklahoma either... Yeah...Well now everyone interested in this topic can sleep well. Or rest with easy hearts. Or have the weight lifted from upon their chests.
