Megatarius
I just read that you can mine with a pickaxe in Nehrim. Is the whole game filled with cool little things like that? I have kind of a dilemma about Nehrim. With the amount of bitching I do about vanilla Oblivion, one would think I'd jump on this game. I haven't yet, because I've modded myself into a corner with Oblivion. There are several mods for Oblivion that I can't play without. They correct things about the game that are beyond bad to me. Two mods that are very important to me are: Better Music System for the ability to turn off the highly annoying battle music. Even if Nehrim has really good battle music (I'm sure it does), I don't want it for every little crab. Running Revised for the ability to sprint, a third movement speed, that has made a pure archery character possible. This mod is very, very important. My playing style depends on it, even with a non archery character. It makes taking on really hard enemies, much higher than my level, possible. If these features aren't in Nehrim, is it true I can easily change their dependent .esm file in TES4EDIT to nehrim.esm? I've never used the program, because I couldn't install it. I kept getting errors. Is there a guide available discussing the pitfalls and techniques of porting mods over? Here's a rather lengthy list of concerns I have (I have mods for each of these things for the regular game so maybe I can just switch them over?): Does Nehrim have: Compatibility with OBSE, so I can use plugins like Fast Exit, WECPS, and Enhanced Music Controls? Better music programming, like the ability to turn off battle music or more than four different types? Getting bloody with each swipe of combat? Water that's not super murky for no reason? Lighted windows at night? Actors inside and outside carrying torches? Indoor areas that are actually dark, so you need a light source? No babying with too many torches that last forever and no real darkness anyway? Harvest Containers and Flora, so I can see what I looked at already? No, or at least very few, quest markers? Psychic Guards and Merchants, and horses that "report" their crimes? Getting on and off a stolen horse in front of a different location and everyone acting like you're stealing it right there and then? COBL support? Speechcraft Wheel of Fortune and nothing to talk about with anybody except the same tired geography lesson rumors or plot points repeated ad nauseam? (Like the only thing they ever talk about in the Mage's Guild is Traven and Necromancy being banned.) Ridiculously expensive player homes that are no better than just paying 20 gold for a hotel room next door? Better use of encumbrance than running like the wind with a full inventory - .01 and then as soon as you pick up a strawberry you're immobile? Swimming easily in full plate armor and lots of encumbrance, so there's no reason to use Walk on Water at all since swimming raises your Athletic skill faster anyway? Better leveling of NPC's and creatures? All bandits wearing really nice armor after a while? Loot and Leveled Lists that all contain the same crap so there's no thrill in finding a chest somewhere? NPC's that just stand there when you snipe their partner from a distance and don't react to their deaths? Cool personality idles and poses? Canceling your attack in mid-swing with the block key? The ability to denock arrows? The Player's face getting frozen in the angry expression? (And thus in real life as well...) Too many essential NPCs? Gold and silk finery that costs just as little as ratty old beggar's clothes? (While a shack on the waterfront costs thousands of gold?) The ability to convince almost every character to become a companion? Thanks.
