Modding Rules 101

Modding is an art and just like any other art not everybody is good at it. It comes in all forms, whether it be scripting, texturing, 3d modeling, and so on. The nexus community as a whole needs to respect these people and their work. When I say respect I am talking about taking another mod and calling it your own. If you want to make changes to other people's work you should ask for permission first and just don't assume that it is OK. When asking for permission you should always state exactly what you want to change, if this person denies you permission to change his/her mod you should respect there decision and not criticize them for it. If you are granted permission to change his/her mod you should always give credit to that person in your read-me and the address where you got the mod. I realize that most modders probable use parts mods to make a whole mod, you still need permission in order to do this and give credit where credit is due. People work hard to produce good quality mods and to me it is disrespectful if you use without asking for permission first.

Resources for building mods are in great supply and should be used. When using a resource you need to give them credit in your read-me and add the address where you found the resource. The people that let us use there work deserve our respect and gratitude for taking the time and effort in putting this stuff together for others to use.

RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MODDERS!!!!!!

Man, I thought this was self-explanatory! Such a shame that people fail to do something as simple as acknowledge another for his or her efforts.

If you're out there...just think: wouldn't it suck if someone didn't credit you for something that you poured hours, days, weeks or even months into?

Just do the right thing.

While you would think that most of the people here should know the rules, it horrifies me to say that some of them don't. These rules are not set in stone and they shouldn't have to be, they should be followed purely out of respect for other modders. I am not here to judge the accused but you know who you are.

Some could possible argue that I haven't the right to be posting a topic of this nature, due to the fact that I'm not an avid poster as you can see. I am, however, accustom to what goes on but I will not indulge how I know. I do download mods and use them but haven't had any reason to start posting until now. So if you think I am anywhere out of my territory please let me know, as I am not bothered by criticism or disagreement.

It's not a question of knowing or not knowing the rules.

It's not a question of common sense and/or decency.

It's not even a question of respect.

There are people out there who, let's face it, have a DILIGAF attitude when it comes to everything. They don't care about what people will think/say/do about their actions, so they just do as the please. Should you call them out on it or try to take them to task, they shrug and reply, "DILIGAF?"

The good thing about this rotten attitude is these jag-offs tend to self-destruct before too long (in here they get the BanHammer O'Death) so at least it's not the same zipperheads all the time.

It's the same BS, just different cows. :wallbash:
