Battles/bosses you hate to fight

The one I hate the most is the fight with Branka. Part of it is that I really don't like the dwarf missions and part of it might be IA adds better gear for her. She is HARD now in my game. She absolutely TEARS up my party even if I defeat all the golems on her side and it is my whole party fighting her. Her armor rating and/or physical resistance is so high that my weapons do 1hp, if I hit her at all, and only special attacks do much damage at all....which I run out of endurance for after a couple of them. I would rather fight a couple of Revenants than her.

Which battles do you hate and why?

I don't like to battle Flemeth, not because she is particularly difficult but I always feel like I have been just a wee bit ungrateful for her rescue. Battle of first Redcliffe is loathsome due to damage lag. Same goes for the first battle for the gates of Denerim. But my all time most hated battle is the second battle for the gates of Denerim because I left those other party members behind for a reason and I really hate being interrupted in my quest to slay the archdemon only to drop back and fight a battle for the second time without my Warden - it is all about the warden after all. I do believe on this playthrough I will go into the final battle with a party of four; playing as a male (Cousland) child so Leliana will never leave Dane's, Sten will remain in the cage (much as I like going after his sword) Zeveran will be killed and I'll be telling Mori to take a hike as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Now I only have to decide if I will keep the old nag or the drunk (will probably go with granny though.) Only four in the party, 2nd Denerim can't happen.

I put a tasty morph on Wynne....I hated the "preachy-ness" too but can stand it if she is hot lol. Oghren just gathers dust in my party picker....why couldn't we have had Qwiddon or someone that wasn't a complete chump? Dude gets OWNED in the deep roads too.....must be too drunk to fight well. I don't get the lag you are talking about....love the Phenom II Black quad 3.4 per and the DDR3 1333.

Oghren is cool so long as you give him all the liquor and beer in the game when you first meet; once his approval is warm to friendly he is actually quite tolerable (in a Larry the Cable Guy kind of way.) I'm using the elven Wynne with a custom head morph so she is not at all displeasing to the eye and since she has been gathering dust I may just use her this time around.

I've pretty much worked around the lag by using a bow with custom arrows I made up that will let me three-shot kill the broodmother so when I get in a lag situation I just shoot something once and move on to a new target. It's cheating but it beats making myself crazy over the lag. I can do 1st Redcliffe in a little over 10 min :whistling:

Final battle is the one that I hate the most. That fight lags my system out to Ctd a lot of the time, and I end up having to start over.

I really hate to say it, but after about the 3rd time of going thru the fight and get him about 3/4 of the way dead, I just type ` runscript killallhostiles and be done with it. Which is a letdown, since I would really like to have screenies of the final kill knowing that I actually EARNED it.

Oh how I hate lag. It's so bad that Flemeth doesn't even fight

You guys with the lag....I get a little if I have been at it for a couple hours straight. I just save and shut it down long enough to have a smoke then come back in and fire up the save...all the memory leak is gone then. Is it a memory leak issue or is it a system resource problem for you guys?....like not having enough? I am only running an 8800 overclocked to just below unstable. I do have a good FSB, CPU, chipset and RAM though....and I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit. (haven't run 64bit anything yet as I would have compatibility issues with some of my older stuff) I have good cooling too...not water, but lots of fans blowing on the MB and 2 exhausting the heat and one blowing across my HDs. Do you guys get heat issues that cause that?

That is sad about the final battle Dark....I just finally killed the archdemon myself without accepting Morrigan's offer for the first time....such a nice little ceremony lol. I have no troubles even when I call in the reinforcements to fight with my group in that battle. I run my stuff @ 1680x1050, which is native for my monitor. I did notice some weird slow downs in areas where I wasn't even fighting huge groups in the past. Those went away when I uninstalled some of the extra dialogue mods I had....was weird that those caused some of that.

I hate to fight the refugees trying to cash in on the bounty in Lothering too...I also have felt bad killing people who are just desperate and hungry....I wish I had an option to give them a few gold to feed their families instead.

I know what you mean. I can talk the distraught Widow in the Brecielian Forest into walking away, (not to mention Marjolaine, and Ser Cauthrian at the Landsmeet!) but not those poor beggars.

The "Here's a few coppers..." option (remember, you don't have much yet at that point) would have been nice. Same in the Entry Hall at Orzammar. The guy sitting cross-legged who "hasn't eaten all day". How come I can give money to the fakers in the Alienage, but not him?

My issue isn't really a visual lag; everyone is moving around just fine - it is a damage and spellcasting lag. I do a killing shot and they run 50 yards before they die or I cast Hand of Winter and 5 seconds later *poof* the spell goes off and they die wherever they moved to. Heat is not an issue as I do a 20 minute cooldown every hour as a matter of practice. Using XP Pro SP3, my video card is a 1 GB GTS-250 (256 bit) so no issue there; I have 2 GB physical ram, 4 GB virtual, CPU is an E6700 (2.67 GHz core2duo) and while it is not state of the art it is well above minimum. It only happens when I get a large crowd in battle and that is one of the reasons I cheat and use Storm of the Century from long range for crowd control but in the two situations I mentioned that is not possible without massive collateral damage (which to me is unacceptable.)

Weird....I wonder what causes that as I don't get any of that "spell or death" lag you talk about. It sounds like you have more than enough machine to handle it too. If I had to guess, I would say you have a mod causing that. That would be quite annoying to have "delayed reaction spells and deaths" like that for sure. Best of luck with that.
